We are a Tonbridge Based Taxi, Private Hire and Chauffeur business that has been trading since January 1995. We offer 4 to 8 passenger vehicles every day of the year, usually 24 hours a day. This is dependant on staff holidays etc for the period from midnight to 4am but if pre-booked can usually be accommodated. We will go anywhere, local or long distance and average over 200 airport transfers per week. We also offer an executive / wedding service in a suitable vehicle. Please call for details. All vehicles take cash or card payment, and we can also offer business accounts on request. Castle Cars has an excellent reputation for standards and reliability and has won many awards both locally and nationally including top 3 for 10 consecutive years winning in 2021 and again in 2025 of the Small Private Hire Company of the Year, given by Professional Driver Magazine. We are also a Times Small Business of the Year Winner, as well as several others. Our Google Reviews averaging 4.8 / 5 from over 1000 different passengers back up how well we are regarded by past customers.

Visit to Tonbridge
We visited Tonbridge for 2 days for a family funeral. We used Castle Cars on 6 occasions to get about from the Premier Inn we were staying in. On each occasion the drivers arrived on time, were very pleasant and very helpful and informative. An excellent service

Service was good driver on time nice bloke but dam nearly £25 for a 15 minute journey is a bit much. More expensive the a london cabbie.
Thankyou for the reply, I dont deem the review as a harsh one, I’m pointing out the cost which isnt cheaper then a London cabbie a lot of my family are london cabbies my dad is a retired one.
I do have a business and as part of that I drive to clients so I need to factor in costs of that so I know what those costs are and don’t justify £25 for 15 minute drive. And as a client in you cab I’m only paying for my journey not for the driver to get back to his next job. Anyway journey was good driver was good I’m not changing my score as the price in my opinion is to high.

I am not sure what your journey was, where to, or what time, but our fares are set by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and are on a calibrated meter.
You also have to take into account that the driver also had to drive to you, and back afterwards, possibly another 15-30 minutes in total.
We have to pay VAT on the fare, a wage to the driver and fuel at over £1.60 per litre as well as buy and maintain the car, and run an office, pay staff, clean the car, and still try and make a small profit of only around 5%.
Sorry, I dont know what business you are in, but we all have to try and make a living, and we cannot even set our own rates, consequently we last had a fare increase 18 months ago (the first in almost 5 years) before the cost of living went through the roof.
To penalise us with what is essentially a poor review, given that our average is 4.8, is a bit harsh when you admit that the service was good, on time, and you had a nice driver.
Usually one would expect to pay more for the best quality in anything else but we manage to do it at the same price as everyone else.
I would estimate that your journey was over 7 miles for that cost. A 6 mile journey in London would cost between £28-36 according to the TFL tariff. The TFL tariff is £6.77 for the first mile then 3.37 per mile against our £5.40 first mile and £2.82 per mile.
