My first order from BWA arrived with 4 of 6 bags all or mostly dead, maybe a household toxin or UPS mishandling. Sad, unfortunate, but stuff occurs. BWA did replace all of the dead fish, with the second package arriving all in excellent health, plus an extra rainbowfish and two juvenile male B. albimarginata. GREAT communication, no questions live guarantee, BWA is an outstanding outfit I will be happy to do business with in the future. Although, as an avid breeder, gifting me male Albi's assures a near future purchase of females, probably from BWA, so their 'I'm sorry' was also a shrewd business move.

He got here quick, is healthy and adjusting to his tank nicely. Can't wait to see how he grows

The betta arrived near dead laying on its side for hours. It eventually righted itself but was stationary on the floor of the aquarium hiding 99%!of the time. I put live food in front of it multiple times and never saw it eat. Never saw it approach the surface. On fifth day I found it on floor. I had been warned about that. Even when I saw the betta its colors were washed out. I had such great expectations and this turned out to be a totally negative experience. What could supplier do better - be honest when fish arrives injured. Don’t put it on the buyer to nurse the fish back to help. This fish was alive, but barely and you knew it! I bought a $5 betta at LFS last night and it is the centerpiece of my tank now. Never again!

A great experience over all. I live relatively close so I did local pickup. Getting a chance to see how much care and dedication they spend on their fish. Far and above what you will get most other places. One of if not the only places to get truly unique Bettas.

I have been doing business with Blackwater Aquatics for at least 5 years and have always found the fish they ship to be healthy, professionally packed and often unavailable from other businesses. They are wild betta experts with great customer service, helpful answers and web articles. Lastly, they really care about the safe arrival of their fish and work to ensure both customer and fish have a good experience.

Anh is super great and answers all of my questions on Instagram. Seeing the fish in person is just something else, and I ended up changing my mind on which betta pair to ultimately buy. The unimaculata complexes are underrated.

The product was great. Communication could use improvement as it takes a while to get an answer through email. But great experience!! Thank you BW Aquatics!!!

First time ordering wild bettas and fish online. The betta brownorum I bought arrived well packed and in great shape. Would definitely buy from them in the future

Ordered a breeding pair of Betta antuta. They shipped out and made it to me safely overnight. The fish were immediately lively and explorative.

Rich was really helpful during the shipping period. The packaging was well done too.

I will definitely purchase from here again.

I'm already enjoying watching the bettas moving into and out of the flower pots in their holding tank :)

Update as of 6/28/25:

The two Betta antuta have officially breed! I now have a couple dozen tiny baby dragons :) Excited to watch them grow up and to move them out into the market so that others can hopefully continue to breed these beauties.

Communication was a plus!
They informed me about a possible problem with the fish I ordered.
They held off the order until the fish problem was corrected.
All fish arrived alive and the instructions for adding the fish to the tank were excellent.

The bettas arrived alive, after several days the male still has very little color, looks nothing like the picture shown when I ordered the betta.

The customer service was amazing. They were able to quickly assist me with my issue and were incredibly kind. I will definitely be purchasing another Betta in the future!

The combination of quality, health, collection-location availability, great shipping, and awesome communication (I could go on), make them THE place for serious aquarists looking for the fish that are so hard to find elsewhere (I'm a parosphromenus nut)!! I WILL work with them again.

I got him on time and box was very well packaged with (still warm) heat packs! After I acclimated him he hid for a while but after a week his colors are absolutely stunning! I’m very satisfied with his physical appearance, almost matches the pictures on the website! + the owners were very nice and informative with all my questions so just another plus!

I ordered a betta smaragdina guitar and it came quite healthy. However, it barely resembles the pictures provided. Fins and tail are quite different however the pattern is the same.

My fish arrived in good condition. The blackwater staff was very accommodating with timing my shipment.
