Total mess

Total mess. First the sales person had stated that he was going to expedite the order. Never happened. I called the business line multiple times and was told to just "wait for scheduling to call you." I then went to the local office and explained the issue to them. That I was an old customer and I needed to reopen the account as a business since I now needed a static (which in itself is crazy, my bill use to be $90, now its tipping on 300 a month and I still have to pay $10 a month for a static!). They said there was nothing they could do to help me and called the business line. Which told me again I had to just "wait for scheduling." Which I had told them "well I am with the ones you are going to schedule with. I really do not need a install I just need a modem." No go. So scheduling called me and we had an install time. The tech got here past the install window. I actually had got my own modem ARRIS SBG7600AC2. Which is on your approved static modem list modems. I bought this one specifically for its ability to have the modem and router built in. I have limited space so that was a great fit for me. The installer told me that I couldn't use the wifi on the device without paying an extra $10 a month. I thought that was off to moved on. Anyhow we couldn't get the modem to come online with the static provided. I let the installer know that there was an issue with the static as we were passing traffic via DHCP just fine. Now it is important to note I am an IT professional with almost 20 years experience. 10 of which was with Comcast NOC as the DHCP/DNS SME. So ya I know what I am talking about when it comes to cable connections. Anyhow, the installer said there was nothing he could do about the static not working and told me to call business support.
This starts the second phase of craziness. So I call support. The first call got disconnected after a 10 or so min wait. The second call went through. The guy had no idea what to do other than push a config and factory reset the modem. Which did make it pass traffic, however I realized after the call had ended that it was working because it had blown out the static setting on the integrated router. So I called back in. This time I got someone that felt they could help. So mind you I am about 40 mins into this whole tech support thing by now. Anyhow the guy didn't know initially how to fix the matter. Then reached out to someone else. In the end I was then told that the router can't be set to static and that is the reason why I was having issues. This made little sense to be personally as most of the time we would just config an IP and sticky it to the mac. But ok fine. So then he tells me that the only way this will work is to keep the router/modem in DHCP and place another router behind it, or have one pc with the static. That to be fair made me quite upset. Not only was it about 1.5 hours now on the phone with tech support. But now I am being told that the modem (which is said to support static by your own documentation on the site) is not capable to use the static. So the router portion of the device is effectively useless to me. I could of bought a much cheaper unit if I knew it was just going to be used as a modem anyhow. So I let him know pretty successfully I think that I was very dissatisfied with the entire process. What a total let down. We had CableOne in Texas for almost 10 years. Customer service was never great, however our trouble calls were all ok. If this is your business service good luck on taking Comcast on which is apparently closing in on your territory in Rio Rancho. I would go with them if I could.
