Do not book through British Council.
I want to receive an IELTS certification for educational and professional purposes. I've paid for IELTS preparation classes through British Council.

They gave me X- amount of credits which would be valid for 3 months. They are not valid for 3 months. I booked 5 lessons in 3 weeks and my credits where gone. If you wanted more classes, you had to pay again.

The classes itself, weren't helpful at all. Each class was 50 minutes, of which 10 - 15 minutes have gone to introducing yourself, and a lot of small talk. Even if it was a group session. I'm ok with it for one lesson, but not every lesson!

I tried to book a date for the actual exam. I couldn't get into my account, so I've mailed several times. They've responded with ' you should try loging in through a different browser'. I've done everything what they advised me to do, several times. It still didn't work. Eventually I called them in Brussels. The site mentioned that the workers only spoke English... OK no problem. The worker spoke very poor English for British Council. I've explained my problem, and that I had contact with them via mail. Rather then looking into my account, she told me to do the exact same thing as the mail said, witch clearly didn't work. She told me she would look into it again ( 5th time already) and that I would have priority, since I wanted to do the exam in March.

Since then, I haven't heard anything. I've thrown hundreds of euros through the drain.
I've booked my exam through the official IELTS site. Everything went smoothly without any problems.

Simply the system was made, with money in mind, they don't care about customers, they made their system in a way that makes you pay full price, in a way that no person with brain would choose anything other than to pay full price.
Don't go with them, if you have other option then go with other, but never the BC.

My daughter has done her oral exam on Friday and had her other test planned last (Saturday) at 15:00.
Upon starting one of your team members told her to change rooms (because it was not totally empty) and to start over the elaborate log-in procedure.
However, when she wanted to log-in again it was impossible and she could neither start nor re-schedule the test.
No one can be reached by phone…
It’s very frustrating.
My daughter is a serious, diligent and hard-working pupil. She made the required efforts and has basically been sent off for no reason and without assistance.
She needs this certificate to apply for her bachelor in university by the end of March.
Since Saturday we've been trying to get the test rescheduled by calling in vain to the exam team phone number +32 2 899 75 20
All without succes, always looping around with the same AUTOMATED reply messages.
I noticed just now the score on Google for their service is 1,9/5 with only bad reviews. Wish I would have seen this earlier.
Totally unprofessional.

Pessima esperienza con IELTS online. Il mio risultato del test del 15 febbraio 2025 è stato trattenuto senza alcuna spiegazione chiara, nonostante io abbia seguito tutte le regole. Ho urgente bisogno del risultato per accedere alla magistrale, ma l’investigazione minaccia di compromettere i miei piani. Assolutamente deluso dalla gestione e dalla mancanza di supporto, senza nessun numero verde da chiamare... non consiglio assolutamente, perdita di tempo e di soldi.

Do not take the IELTS exam. They are unreliable. They will delay your results for months and don’t care about how this impacts your plans. They won’t release your results for months and won’t provide a reason.

Je suis extrêmement déçu par l’attitude du British Council de Rabat. Ma fille suit des cours d’anglais dans ce centre, et le samedi 1er Fevrier, un imprévu exceptionnel l’a empêchée d’assister à son cours. Pourtant, le centre a refusé de reporter la séance, alors qu’il arrive fréquemment de décaler des cours pour ses propres raisons, comme ce fut le cas le 28 décembre 2024, sans explication valable, car ce n’était ni un jour férié ni pendant les vacances scolaires.

De plus, aujourd’hui, je me suis retrouvé devant la porte du centre sans même avoir été prévenu que le cours de ma fille était annulé à cause de la non-disponibilité du professeur. Étant donné le tarif payé, il serait normal que le centre prévoie un remplaçant dans ce genre de situation.

Cela est très frustrant, car je ne peux pas déclarer la présence de ma fille pour cette semaine. Avec les vacances qui arrivent, l’intérêt pédagogique est totalement perdu à cause de l’annulation imprévue des séances. Je ne recommande donc pas le British Council de Rabat, qui manque de professionnalisme et de considération envers ses élèves et leurs familles.

Je ne recommande pas du tout cet organisme !! Les conditions de l'exam fonctionnent mal ou pas du tout !!! Ma fille a dû repasser l'oral à 2 reprises et l'écrit n'a pas pu être terminé donc examen non validé et non remboursé !!

Mon fils c'est inscrit pour passer son test d’anglais afin de poursuivrez ses études à l’étranger, il a payé 260 euros et à 24h de passer son test celui vi a été annulé. POURQUOI???!!!! Aucune raison....
Nous appellons et on nous indique que c’est un problème administratif. Lequel???!!! On ne sait pas. Sur ce, nous demandons un report de date et c’est un refus catégorique et bien sûr sans remboursement. Si ça c’est pas une arnaque!!!!! Je compte pas m’arrêter là.

SON UNOS SACADINEROS, NO LES IMPORTAMOS, SOLO LES IMPORTA QUE TE PRESENTES 90000 VECES PARA SACARTE EL DINERO.

I think is a good platform to learn english it costs a little but it is really good.

Expérience similaire aux autres commentaires négatifs déjà présent sur le site. Réponse très lente aux mails, aucune possibilité de trouver un arrangement pour passer un examen. Je déconseille fortement.

A éviter! Surtout pas faire de réévaluation d’un teste, c’est 100€ perdu d’avance. La chinoise qui m’a évalué n’avait pas l’air de tout comprendre pourtant je suis bilingue depuis naissance, en plus elle était très désagréable. Je mettrai 0 si je pouvais. Je regrette de pas avoir choisis un autre organisme mais je le ferai la prochaine fois, celui-ci ne vaut rien.

Horrible experience altogether.

Their Online test crashed multiple times, and their customer service was slow and unhelpful.
Due to British Council’s incompetence I wasn’t able to take the test before my academic deadline (had to wait over a month, and I have still not got any decent help).

Mi experiencia es con British Council Online. A pesar de no querer usar sus servicios se ha renovado la suscripción y no me quieren devolver el dinero explicándoles la situación que No voy a usar sus servicios. Empatía cero de esta empresa. Prefieren quedarse con el dinero de las personas a pesar de no querer usar el servicio de algo que me acaban de cobrar.

Mr. Sayed Ali at reception gave a very comprehensive and detailed explanation about the course, requirements and prices along with guidance points which made me feel at home with the British Council.
Way to go!

I had a very disappointing experience with the British Council. I was speaking to one of the staff members over the phone, and they abruptly hung up without any prior notice or explanation. This kind of unprofessional behavior is unacceptable, especially from an institution that prides itself on high standards. I expected better communication and respect for clients. Very dissatisfied.

Horrible platform, they don't make money from education, they make money from deceiving their customers into paying subscriptions, avoid dealing with them if possible.

Hoy tenía mi examen APTIS en Marq de Vadillo 10, llegué sobre las 9:10 al sitio y en lo que revise mi mochila había olvidado mi pasaporte.
En fin me dirigí a los encargados a ver que podía hacer y me dicen que no que sin el pasaporte no hay examen que tenía 35 min para buscarlo (cuando vivo a mas de una hora de allí) y si no pues perdía el cupo. Me refirió que contactara al BC y les explicara, que yo no era el primero al que le decía que no (al parecer ya tiene historial la profesora) en fin, le pregunté el número y me dijo que no sabía que lo buscara en la página web, cero empatía y cero ganas de ayudar y para rematar me dice igual te van a decir que toca pagarlo.
Contacto con servicio al cliente y le comento la situación y me dice exactamente eso que no hay solución al problema, que toca volver a pagarlo. Cuando lo que yo realmente necesito es hacer el examen. No se me ayudó a reagendar otra fecha proxima ni se me dio solución a nada. Todo fue toca pagar algo mas en lo que lo pueda ayudar o sea me sentí como una mercancía. El dinero me la suda lo que necesito es el maldito certificado con urgencia pero al B. Council le importamos cero solo le importa el ingreso en Cuenta. Personal con un nivel de empatía en el inframundo y un servicio al cliente que resuelve absolutamente nada vamos que lo tienen todo (mal)
