Broken pre-bid agreements, undisclosed fees and platform threats.
This review serves as a clear warning to everyone regarding the hostile customer service and contradictory billing practices used by Boyar Armoury. An item was recently won in their online auction via the-saleroom.
Direct contact was made with the business prior to placing any bids, and explicit confirmation was received stating they would package the item for a courier pickup, with no mention of any packaging charges. However, after the hammer fell, billing was forced offline and they demanded an unadvertised packaging fee of £25 + VAT (£30 total). This completely contradicts official marketing claims boasting a "fully transparent process" with "no hidden fees" and "no unwanted surprises," alongside promises that in-house shipping provides "peace of mind."
When polite emails were sent to negotiate a fairer packing rate based on the pre-bid agreement, Boyar Armoury left the correspondence completely unanswered for weeks. It became necessary to involve the-saleroom support team to force an intervention. Unbelievably, instead of acting professionally when contacted by the platform, the auction house formally stated they were retracting the original offer to package the lot entirely, issuing spiteful threats of a "public block" if the offline bill remains unpaid.
This situation suggests severe seller remorse because the item sold for less than expected under the hammer. Going back on pre-bid terms, ignoring customer emails until a platform intervenes, violating published marketing policies, and using public platform threats to intimidate buyers are completely disgraceful. Do not do any business with this company.
