Our doors were installed less than 18 months ago.

Now one of the handles doesn't work and they are saying it's not their fault.

And this is after they messed up the original delivery and installation.

From start to finish Black Steel Doors were excellent. I’m so happy with the finished result. My door looks beautiful. I thoroughly recommend.

Follow up: The team revisited the doors and replaced the seals. They will replace the door hooks in time. The seals (gaskets) we'll need to replace regularly, which I wish I'd known about but hopefully in time better solutions will be found. The company have been excellent in responding to these issues.

Second Edit: The doors have been installed for three years and issues persist. The seals have failed. The door hooks are pealing. The doors are not airtight and a cold spot. And it's all out of warranty.

Edit: I have updated the original review below because the company has worked hard to remedy the issues. The door is nearly airtight (we have to wait for the new rubber seals to bed in) and we can't see any water ingress. The customer service and desire to get it right has been fantastic. I still have question marks over the quality of the door but, as I have no other crittal style door to compare it to, it's difficult to make an accurate assessment. I'm not 100% satisfied as there are elements on the door like screws and locks that are not coated so the paint is chipping away exposing the silver metal underneath (this shows up in a completely black door). I would recommend you shop around first as it's not a small investment in price to make.

Original review: I chose this company over another one, which was similar in price, because of the reviews here and a genuinely pleasant sales experience. I wish I had not. From start to (not quite) finish the whole experience has been problematic and unnecessarily stressful as a result. It started well - the company made it very easy to purchase, the site survey went well but after the money was paid it all went downhill from there. Promised delivery dates rescheduled at the last minute, promises of the CEO contacting us (still waiting), and now we have a door that leaks (water is coming in at two points), isn't airtight (causing condensation problems), and a list of other snags (plus, now, damaged tiles from cutting metal to add to the list) that the company promises to do their best to fix but has failed to do so, so far. We are waiting for the team to turn up for the third time and they will be 3 hours late (again). I can't fault them for trying, the team do seem to genuinely care and are willing to try and sort out the snags but trying can only get you so far when you need a door to be air- and water-tight. Maybe this project is unusually glitchy but the fact remains I have purchased a product that isn't up to the sales pitch and the company hasn't yet put right. I expected better certainly from the reviews here and photos on their site. I'll update this review to reflect the final outcome.

Great new internal back door in an an old cottage. Admired by all who see it. Easy company to work with and would use them again.

We spent months researching a very specific type of steel door, which is more prevalent on the continent but very tricky to find in the UK. We nearly gave up the hunt before we came across Black Steel Doors. We're so glad that we did.

We love our doors! We have both a Black Steel Doors internal bifold door and seperate sliding door. The quality of the workmanship is truly excellent and everyone agrees they are the centrepiece of our house renovation.
Everything was delivered efficiently and on time and the company was very accommodating.

Great product, workmanship and install. I had two sliding doors fitted. Absolutely love them and we have had some amazing compliments from everyone that has seen them.

I would recommend black steel doors if you really want the wow factor.
