Wow! I am currently awaiting my new debit card that was supposed to be fedex to me. I can't access my money this weekend at all. I just had two scams happen to my account and I tried my best to give them a chance. I don't recommend this bank at all. One pro is that you get your direct deposit early.

If I could give negative stars there wouldn't be enough. My account was hacked in January. I sent all the proof they asked me for why am I still fighting these people to get my money back. The saddest thing is my card was locked. The customer representatives are unprofessional, unknowledgeable and a supervisor or team lead is never available. I've been waiting to hear back from a supervisor 2 weeks. I'm excited for the people who have had better experiences. I'm very displeased.

I thought when I opened the account I was coming to a financial platform that was a better alternative to the big banks. However, I have found them to be more heartless than the big banks. I’m dealing with a death in the family and deposited a check from my church and they placed a seven day hold on it. Once I called customer service they told me your funds will be available in another 4 business days and there is nothing we can do!

I will continuously write terrible reviews for this company. As long as it stands I was hospitalized in 2022 and they allowed someone to overdraw my bank account of $30,000. Yes you read that correct $30,000 I open my account in 2021 within intentions of supporting a black owned bank, which I thought was a very amazing idea Turns out to be one of the worst experiences of my life as I was sick and pregnant with my son countless days sent countless emails and made over 200 phone calls to this company as my bank account drained each and every day. When I moved with my family and switched over all of my information, they denied my dispute because of address verification , but my information was never changed in their system. I am still to this day December 13, 2023 fighting to get my money back. It’s gone over to me working with the FIC and several lawyers just to get this resolved. I will never in my life be a part of coastal community Bank nor Greenwood Bank ever again

Customer service get a 1 ⭐️. Opens mid morning(10am), closes at 8pm, no weekend availability, Banking App is the worst. You have an issue after hours your screwed. Smallest infractions card will lock out on fraudulent matters even though they are not. Constantly have to call in to explain its myself making transactions. The ideas of GREENWOOD ARE 💯….the actions, research and development needs a lotttttttt of revamping and help…I’m not going to close my account but I will no longer direct deposit my funds or add funds. To many bad experiences in 60 days!! I tried to support but damn I travel wayyyy too much for no access to my revenue and finances when extremely important situations come about. Shady. I have requested they close my account THREE times. They keep saying it’s closed but when I sign in it clearly shows it’s still active; and they continue to generate monthly statements.

I hate to leave bad reviews for what is supposed to be a Black owned company but I have to call this one. I call this bank every day to unlock my card because apparently I make too many transactions. I moved my direct deposit back to Navy Federal because I can’t deal with this anymore. They don’t alert you if they suspect fraud. They just lock your card. I was also told that I can’t pay directly from cash app and to send money to myself in order for it to work. What kind of crap is this? And, if I signed up for early access to my paycheck then why I have to call you to release my money to me. This is absolutely the worse bank ever! It’s a digital bank at that. Also, they reject mobile check deposits as well and claim it as fraudulent. Killer Mike and Andrew Young really need to go back to the drawing board or get a better business model going. I rather pay overdraft fees to Navy Federal than to use this account again.

I have received a monthly email since Jan 2023 indicating that 'my monthly statement' is ready. I did not open an account with them and have reported it to them numerous times. They will NOT give me any information without my 16 digit card number.. which I obviously do not have. My call yesterday, I did ended up confirming my email address and last 4 of social... then was placed on a long hold... leary, I hung up. There are no replies to the support email I have found. Just wanted this public knowledge for others.

Do not open an account with Greenwood Bank! They do not have their own fraud department. Unlike other financial institutions, they provide no alerts of each transactions by text message in place. They just email you about the transactions. They allowed someone to compromise my account and refused to refund me the money that was stolen from me in a timely manner. They allowed the funds to be deducted immediately like the funds that were stolen from me! I am so glad that my Social Security Benefits are being deposited into this account!

I never received a debit card; called to request another, was charged $5 and NEVER received that one. Wasn't told of the charge until I inquired weeks later, closed the account on 9/21/2023, still have yet to receive the money I had in that account.

Worst experience ever went to the Post Office to get some money orders tried to pay card declined. I called the bank and was told that there system doesn't recognize post office transactions. huh?? Seriously? Okay went home to make my payment online made 2 payments for 1200 then my card was locked, I called and was told to wait for 30 minutes then try my card again. All I'm trying to do is pay bills this is ridiculous definitely moving my money back to Navy Federal. Doesn't matter if you have Greenwood Metal card which you pay _4.99 a month for.

This is a horrible bank. I truly wanted to believe in it and had an account with a regular monthly deposit going to it for about a year. But the issues were just too much. Pin never worked even after calling to reset it. I would be stuck looking like a fool trying to pay with this card only for it to be declined, even though there was plenty of money in it. My wallet was stolen, I filed a report, they decided it wasn't fraud and I was not refunded what was stolen. I tried taking money out at an ATM, my withdrawal limit was 1500, the ATM allowed me to take out 400. Got an error saying the financial institution would not let me withdraw to call them. I called. The man on the phone said to try 300. I did. Got the same error. I tried 200. Got the same error. I finally decided to close this account. It has been such a horrible experience.

I never received my debit card. I requested another one and they charged me for it. You can’t send money out of the account because the app and Plaid keeps saying they failed to authenticate your bank, even though you have to log into that banks mobile banking to sync them. I wanted to support this bank because of the social aspect, but it’s just not worth it. You’d do better opening a checking account with a credit union or even an online bank. TRASH

Do not use greenwood!!! Cash app has cancelled a few transactions and when they finally expired over a week later greenwood put them in as 0.00 transactions instead of 210, 110, 100, & 50! Leaving me $480 short in my account. They keep telling me it'll be 24-48 hours before compliance contacts me but this started 8/21/23! No word from anyone at all. I call and call but nothing. I just need the money back in my account now!

DONT DO IT!!!!! Greenwood is the scammiest so-called bank. I made a payment August5th to Hertz. I moved money from my savings to my spend account $326. The following day I have a negative balance of $300.65. Why?!!!! The purpose of this account was because it doesn't pay if no money's in the account. They STOLE MY $$$$ and keep lying. They need to be sued and closed. And to think they label themselves to be banking black🤣😅Major crooks. Avoid at ALL COST. THE WORST COMPANY ALONG WITH COASTAL.COMMUNITY BANK!!!!!!

From the LACK of Customer Service, non working customer service phone number to them stealing over $1,800 from me is all HORRIBLE! My fellow black folks do not buy into the hype. These particular black folks from the founder all the way down to the customer service is only out to steal from less fortunate African Americans who they think can’t make actions against them once they steal your money. I have written to the BBB, Federal Reserve that regulates Coastal Community Bank (their sponsor bank because Greenwood nor its founders or employees can actually handle customers funds because FINTECHS alone aren’t FDIC insured), I’ve also submitted a complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as well as Federal Trade Commission on how i never received a card the entire time my account was open with these fraudsters, how Greenwood once they did email me back after months of me contacting them; told me that they placed the incorrect address on the envelope because it didn’t match my correct address that was on my account. Even still they never corrected it and ordered me a card and ship it to the correct address. In the midst of all that; over $1,800 was stolen from my account. I filed a fraud claim and submitted a statement of fraud to Greenwood and didn’t get a reply back until I had to reach out to Coastal Community Bank and have them reach out to them for me. After doing that 3 separate times someone finally called me by the name of Todd. Horrible attitude and very incompetent. Claimed he would file the fraud claim. Literally not even 24 hours went by and they contacted me via email telling me that I would not be refunded. To this day I still have not received my money back. I’m contacting my state attorney generals office next and if in need to file arbitration and have an arbitrator decide on the case I will be taking that action as well. I do understand that traditional banks aren’t the best but I’m sorry to say it but at least you don’t have to worry about them traditional banks actually scamming their own customers! Greenwood does this because they know they won’t held accountable to an extent when it comes to fines because Coastal Community are the ones that back them on FDIC insurance and who the federal government will fine and go after once the fraudsters at Greenwood are exposed for who they really are and what they stand for. One of the founders premiered on Real Housewives of Atlanta. Think her name is Tanya. These folks are scammers and will take your money. STEER CLEAR

I still haven't received a card but they continue to encourage me to make a deposit. I reached out to them said they were sending me one. That was 6 months ago SMDH!

Horrible experience. The app is full of bugs. I downgraded my account from the premium level to the basic level yet each month the $4.99 continues to be taken from my account. Totally regret buying into this.

This bank is so unprofessional rude inconsiderate I had some unauthorized transactions come up and they proceeded to have me take screenshots of my cash app activity to send to them that's none of their business but I did it anyway I sent them screenshots of my activity on cash app and now they're wanting a whole years at like they want my statements now from cash app that's unprofessional it's rude and I'm super pissed off cuz now they shut my account down with my money still in it and I can't access to it

You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. You are an exemplary reason why black businesses are not supported, you never do business right!
