Love my new IDS American Smooth ballroom shoes. Shoes fit perfectly and the customer service was great. Love the quality of the shoes. The website was easy to find the perfect shoe. When I wasn’t sure on size the customer service guided me in the right direction. So nice to be able to talk to a real person quickly.

My recent experience with ballroomshoes.com has been very disappointing. Their website advised to order a UK size that is 2 less than the US size to convert appropriately. I followed this advice and ordered a UK size 10 pair of men's ballroom shoes. Order arrived fine and the shoes looked great. When I tried them on, they were too tight. I spent no more than a couple of minutes in those shoes in my house before deciding that I needed the next size up. I started an exchange request with them. During this process, I discovered an image on one of the shoe pages that showed UK size being one size smaller than US size. I pointed out this discrepancy to them and magically the website was updated to advise buyers to pick 1 size smaller from US size. In one of the emails an employee denied that there was any discrepancy and that the website advised to buy one size smaller. Luckily anyone can access the internet archived pages (web.archive.org) that save off the past versions of pages and I was able to retrieve a past version of the page that was originally presented to me.

I started the exchange process and they were prompt to respond and approve the return. (I advise any future buyers to review their very strict return policy, which I reviewed before placing this order). I returned the shoes in the same mint condition that I received, but got an email notifying me that the shoes were worn and a picture showing the same. The soles of the shoes in the picture looked very bad and these shoes were clearly worn and someone went to town on them. They were ready to send the worn shoes to me if I paid for the return mailing costs. I have repeatedly requested them to investigate any possible way my return was mixed up with a bad pair of shoes on their end. They are confident that there is no mistake on their end. I called their number and was able to speak to the owner. She sent me some follow up pictures of the shoe box and those pictures show a shoebox that had some damage and a dusty shoe bag. This is not the set I sent them back.

At this stage, the owner is confident there was no mistake on their end. This is a situation where it is my word against theirs and I will let future buyers make their own judgment. I believe the business either does not have strong operations to process returns/exchanges or is dishonest or both. Their initial denial of the shoe size discrepancy that I pointed out to them leads me to not trust this business.

Horrible return/cancelation policies.

I purchased a pair of shoes in November, and later tried to return them because they were too small. It turns out I missed the 15 DAY return window (extremely small window for industry standards), but I accepted that as my own fault.

Then I purchased a new shoe in a larger size, and when they arrived they turned out to be too BIG. I need them for an event in two weeks, so I decided to order the same shoe in the correct size immediately and then follow up with ballroomshoes over email to have them coordinate an exchange in the backend with my new order #. It turns out the new order wouldn't be produced and delivered for several weeks even though they don't say anything about delivery estimates in the checkout window. Now, canceling the order will incur a 10% FEE even though I just placed the order yesterday and the shoes aren't even produced yet!

To make matters worse, I decided I would also return the second order I made because I was within the return window and I don't have use for shoes that are too big, and now they're saying that I would have to pay for the shipping costs AND a 15% restocking FEE.

Summary:
Order 1: Total loss because I missed 15 day window.
Order 2: Loss of shipping fees & restocking fees.
Order 3: Loss of cancelation fee.

All in all I will be out a whopping $178 just by attempting to shop with ballroomshoes, yet I still don't have a pair of shoes for my event. Absolutely the worst customer service policies I have ever dealt with and I will never be shopping from them again, nor will the dance companies I am part of.

I ordered a pair of white ballroom shoes for my wedding, as my fiancé and I are learning a first dance choreography. The shoe quality is excellent, but I encountered an issue with sizing. I initially ordered my usual size 8, not realizing that ballroom shoes are meant to fit more snugly. When I received the first pair, they were much too large. The return and exchange process was straightforward, although the site has a strict one-exchange policy. I had to correspond with a representative multiple times, providing my foot measurements and requesting a size recommendation, as well as asking if a second exchange could be allowed if needed. Fortunately, they recommended a size 6 1/2, which fit perfectly—something I wouldn’t have selected on my own.

Overall, it was a good experience, though I did have to pay for shipping both ways. It would be helpful for the company to consider relaxing their strict exchange policies, especially for first-time buyers who are unfamiliar with ballroom shoe sizing, to make the process less intimidating for newcomers investing in a premium product.

The shoes felt great fit almost perfectly and quality was very good.
