Does Not Provide “Best Rates” (Do An Independent Research)
I have utilized AutoSlash on multiple occasions, and they consistently identified the most competitive prices via Priceline.com. However, during the two most recent instances of using their service, I conducted independent research. In both cases, I discovered more favorable rates on alternative websites. For instance, USAA offered lower rental car rates, despite selecting the option indicating membership with USAA on AutoSlash. This experience has led me to believe that AutoSlash does not always provide the lowest prices and may have a partnership with Priceline.
disappointing
An easily found rate for Hertz with Amex Plat was not included in Autoslash results.
This site is a ripoff
This site is a ripoff. After making a reservation with a rental company, I went on AutoSlash to see if I could find a better rate, after it was mentioned in an AARP article. They informed me that a minimum rental period was required (wrong - I was already renting for 5 days) and I would have to extend my stay by 3 days! Plus, the rates they quoted were at least $200 higher than what I already had! Total waste of time.
We had some issues with Autoslash…
We had some issues with Autoslash directing us to a car that would "disappear" when we tried to enter the billing information. The offer would change or would no longer exist. Jonathan helped us a number of times find an equally attractive offer. Very hands on and reliable. I love this kind of customer service.
They must be a scam now
They must be a scam now. I got a quote for a car that I booked. It was pay Auto Slash now rate. I put in all my information correctly twice and both times it was declined. I checked with the bank and the problem was not on the banks end. I think they don’t want to give that rate and it’s a come on. They seem to change the ccv #. So now it’s declined. It pisses me off that they wasted my time.
BE VERY CAUTIOUS USING AUTO SLASH.
Autoslash has turned into a scam
Autoslash has turned into a scam. After booking, you can set it up that they search for lower rates, but if they find one, and you accept, you are charged for the first rate AND the second rate (I. E., charged twice) unless you separately cancel the first booking and it is hard to figure out because the receipt does not have your booking code AND the link to the receipt expires. This is intentional to trip you up.
AUTOSLASH.COM costs MORE than…
AUTOSLASH.COM costs MORE than Priceline!
Routes Car Rental: Booking through Autoslash.com shows a price CA$51 higher than booking directly through Priceline.com for a mid-size car like a Toyota Corolla. Note that Routes Car Rental is not highly rated.
Hertz Car Rental: For a reputable company like Hertz, Autoslash.com shows a price CA$112 higher for a compact car like a KIA Rio compared to booking directly.
Worst experience ever.
Worst experience ever.
I rented a car through Autoslash.
I booked and advance and paid in full on there website for the car hire.
After returning the car back when I contacted Autoslash to help with the refund of the deposit. They simply turned around and said nothing to do with us!!!
I requested them several times to help me with my refund but they simply kept making excuses.
I asked for a complaint reference number. Declined.
Awful service and extremely unprofessional experience!!!
Great Service and Great Staff
I have used AutoSlash numerous times and only once have I received a lower rate by booking directly with a rental company. I contacted AS to ask about the rate and was politely told that there are times that even they can't beat a "member's only, sales promotion" rate direct from the rental company. No BS, just the facts and a "Congratulations" for finding a lower rate.
I always use their tracking service and almost always end up with a lower rate than the original booking. On a recent vacation my original rate was $1065 for an SUV through Avis. Over the next 2 months I received numerous tracking updates and by re-booking and re-tracking (5 times) my final rate was $638 - for the same vehicle through Avis. It works if you work at it. I especially like the feature that allows me to eliminate specific companies when using their tracking system. I don't need to hear about a lower rate from a company that is going to require 2 shuttles to get to (and from) their off-airport rental office or companies with low ratings.
I have had a number e-mail conversations with member of the AS staff and have always been treated with respect. The staff seems to actually like their jobs and are always willing to offer tips and explanations that actually make sense.
I will continue to use - and recommend - AutoSlash whenever a rental vehicle is needed.
Avoid Autoslash
I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with Autoslash.com. After reading some positive reviews, I decided to give them a try, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a decision I regret.
I charged a rental car through Autoslash, using the “pay now” rate of $429.06. Autoslash promises to get you the best available rate for the car you are looking for. I was given a receipt for that amount. When I went to pick up the car from Fox Rental, the agency that was contracted to me through Autoslash, I was told that I'd only paid them $354.71. As instructed by Autoslash, I called the Autoslash help line and they asked to see my voucher - A VOUCHER THAT I WAS NEVER GIVEN!!! The attendant on the phone emailed me the voucher which shows I paid $383.09. WHAT WAS GOING ON? $429.06 or $354.71 or $383.09? I reached out to Autoslash asking for an explanation – and got nothing. To make matters worse, when I attempted to reach out to the management to resolve the issue, I was met with silence. They answered with chatter that did not address my question and refused to give me an accounting of my payment. It's incredibly frustrating to be ignored and disregarded after spending my hard-earned money with this company.
Overall, I would strongly advise against doing business with Autoslash. Their lack of integrity, poor customer service, and subpar services make them a company to steer clear of. Save yourself the hassle and find a reputable business that values its customers.
Out of Business?
I have requested a rental car three times with no response. I've emailed the company per their contact us instructions twice. All I get is silence. I've used Autoslash several times in the past and loved their service. However, the company's absolute silence at this point is deafening. Hopefully they will see this and contact me.
Great site to track low car rental rates
This is a amazing service to find the lowest rates!
I have used them literally dozens of times and they consistently find me the best rates there are, in fact I have an upcoming reservation that AutoSlash found the best price for me by more than $150 off my best price!
I have also used AutoSlash to track a reservation that I already made, to let me know if lower rates become available, this has proven itself to be quite successful as well.
I highly recommend!
It's only a lie if you catch us.
Quite a joke. They advertise that they can provide a one-way car rental quote without a drop fee. But low and behold, they provide me a quote that was not only higher than the car rental place I selected directly but it also included the drop fee they claimed would not have.
Stellar Customer Service
I've used this company a few times, now, and always received the lowest prices. During my last experience, they gave me a quote to use Avis through Priceline. When I got to the counter, the amount they charged me was about $100 more than the quote. I contacted AutoSlash to let them know there was a difference in price. Their response was almost immediate. They contacted Avis on my behalf and got the price reduced to the quoted amount. Very happy with their customer service. Will continue to use them in the future!
Terrible
Terrible. When I booked through Autoslash in Ireland they gave me no option to decline basic coverage (since there was no field for this in the booking I assumed I would sort it out at the counter), so now I'm liable for €1500 in damage instead of being covered in full by my credit card company. I had no idea this was happening until I got to the rental counter.
Rates not honored
Booked twice through Autoslash and Priceline, then overbilled by the rental company. Sent info to Autoslash, Jonathan first replies with "Priceline is dead wrong here. A deal is a deal and you should pay what you were quoted. End of story." No follow-up. After another email, Chris replies with "We'll get this escalated this week and let you know what the result is. Either way, we'll make sure your original rate is honored or reimbursed no matter what." Never to be heard from again, and now no longer will respond to my emails. The rental companies do not honor the Autoslash rate quotes. Your choice at the counter is then to cancel and rent at a likely much-higher same-day rental rate, or agree to the rental companies charges, in spite of having a worthless printed quote in your hand.
After posting here, AutoSlash did respond and provided a refund for the overcharges on the two rentals. I'm still cautious about using Priceline quotes, but at least AutoSlash honored the rate quotes as promised.
Forget this company
Forget this company. I booked a car through them which then went through Priceline to Hertz. The total with tax and fees was $475.63. I then set up with their price watch system, and I received an email that I could get a better deal on my car for $690. WT??? I emailed them, and they told me that was a great deal because the car I rented was really $979!!! I called Hertz and they confirmed that the rental price for the car was $979.82, using the same confirmation number. I told them I had a copy of the confirmation for $475, and essentially they said, not our problem, call Priceline. I called Priceline who tried to give me a bs story about higher taxes at the time I was booking, and essentially said, sorry, too bad.
Great value! Great service!
Here's why I recommend Autoslash
1. Low prices
A friend recommended Autoslash and I've now used it to rent cars three times. Before each trip, I checked out the best price I could get elsewhere, which was often through the airline or through Kayak. In all three instances, the price via Autoslash lower, In one case, Autoslash quoted $620, where the best price elsewhere had been $730-for the same car.
2. Autoslash is easy to use--no need to register an account. Just give them the trip info and email address each time. When I wanted to check alternative dates, I started a separate request.
3.When my wife and I travel, we always share driving.
One problem I had in the past when renting through priceline, is that the best price offer turned out to be with a company that charges extra for spouse drivers. This doesn't happen with Autoslash, because when it lists offers, it notes for each whether there's a charge for spouses.
4. Personal service
Minneapolis/St. Paul has two different terminals (1 & 2), each with its own car rental facility. On one trip we were flying into Terminal 2, Most car rental companies ask you to designate the Terminal, but there was no place on the Autoslash form to do this. I wrote to Autoslash asking if that would be a problem. I got a personal response early the next day-saying that there was no need to designate the terminal, since the rental car companies don't assign a car until you show up.
Autoslash occasionally sends me emails with informative links. Some topics are very helpful, such as what to do if you lose your ID while traveling.
My boys
My boys: Eric, Andrew, Ludo, Michael, and Sir Jonathan; they some powerful soothsayers overseeing car rental industries, my peeps. Not only do they remedy the counter intuitive language of the rental car owner (as renter, you're basically looking up their barrel), but they do so pushing consumer friendly terms like free cancel (up to 48hours from deadline) & they answer emails 24/7 ninety-nine and forty-four hundredths per cent of the time.
Heck, one a these goobers even signed me up for a fabulous fly-by-night four-thirty-nine a month deal in a major metropolis cause I'd whined about that renter's website not working. So come what may, these fellers are a breath of fresh air on a stale day. Mkay?
