After long searches and refusals from several car services, I decided to look for someone competent on the Internet to repair my Ford Kuga, and I found ASR gearbox specialist.
they answered very quickly and the communication with them went very well, they kept me informed all the time about the evolution of the car and they did a fantastic job, my car runs like new now.
The right ones took longer than they anticipated, but being very good at what they do, I think they are also in high demand.
In conclusion, they are very serious and I am very satisfied with their services and I recommend them with all confidence!!!!
Slow customer service
Gearbox repair and upfront costs before undergoing repair were all done to a good standard. My issue was that the total repair took over 35 days, which was annoying but slow part delivery is likely to blame.
Upon receiving the vehicle it took another 5 days to receive important running-in guidance for the new gearbox, which doesn’t make any sense to me why it wouldn’t be given upon delivery as I had already been driving.
Professional service all the way
Professional service all the way. Communication was clear. Kept me informed each step of the way and great after care. Highly recommend

I would like to thank max and team, I left it a bit to write this as I wanted to make sure , and I can say the kuga is running lovely, it took a little longer, but that was due to getting parts, so I would use ASR again, but hopefully not, thanks again to max and team.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE
My car lost 1st and 2nd gear, so I contacted ASR for an estimate for repair/reconditioned gearbox and new clutch.
From start to finish no communication and no follow through. They say they will call you back but very rarely do, I felt like it was me chasing them the whole time. They are basically a call centre who farm out their clients to garages around the country. You will never get to know where they actually place your vehicle. Mine was supposed to be in a service centre in Peterborough, which is just 20miles from where I live, but ended up in Baldock, which is well over 60miles away. I was never consulted about this, it was only at vehicle collection that I was told by the recovery service that it was going to Baldock. Being the owner of the vehicle, I think it’s my legal right to know where it’s being placed. Plus, the fact that Baldock is three times as far away as Peterborough, so recovery charges would be more.
19/06/23 called to book an appt for car pick up and diagnostics in Peterborough, was told they would be in touch. It took me calling almost everyday to get eventual pickup.
04/07/23 car picked up by recovery service after a full week of trying to get it booked into Peterborough. I should have found out more info as to where the car was being taken, or never let it go in the first place! Personally think I should have received an email or some kind of paperwork to show they had my car, didn’t get this until I asked for it.
07/07/23 After the so-called diagnostic, which was according to ASR, testing the gearbox oil for metal shavings, I received an email stating it wasn’t feasible to repair the gearbox so they would recommend a reconditioned one.
10/07/23 I phoned ASR, to ask why the gearbox was unrepairable. Asked about the diagnostics done and could I have a report so I could consider my options. Was told they don’t normally give out a diagnostic report as most clients don’t want one. I told them I’d like one anyway! I was told they’d have to get the technician to write it and would forward it on. I was not at all happy with the service at this point, so asked ASR to return my car.
I thought I would get an email with costs, so I could get the car back, but I had to chase them for this too. Eventually received email. After talking to them, they agreed a reduction in costs, it took me another two days to get the email for this .The director was supposed to talk to me, haven't had a call yet. After I paid the Bill it still took me calling them to ask about the return of the vehicle to get anything done.
Even when I had a time for the return, Between 5 and 8pm Friday night, the recovery service didn't show up. No way to contact ASR, no emergency number, nowhere even to leave a voice mail. At this point I’m wondering if I’ve been totally scammed and that my car hasn’t already been parted out!
15/07/23 I emailed, called. texted and emailed again, no reply.
Eventually the recovery service called and the car was delivered to my doorstep at 12:15pm . It smells like clutch is burning. Tyres and underbody are covered in mud. No paperwork to sign to say I had received the vehicle.
12:24 Email from ASR apologizing for non-delivery of vehicle at specified time and also for the difficult and inconvenient experience with ASR. Also that my voice had been heard and that the director would be calling me on Monday at 11am, we shall see!
Regardless of the fact that the vehicle is an older model, it is still in very good condition, I have maintained it mostly myself, so know a thing or two about cars. I entrusted my vehicle to ASR and am disgusted with how they treated me and my vehicle. The fact that it came back with the clutch stinking tells me they’ve been ragging it about because of it lacking 1st and 2nd gear. Whether this was at the so-called “service centre” or by the recovery service is irrelevant, it wasn’t like that when I sent it out. Still no receipt of payment or diagnostic report!
Honestly wish I’d NEVER heard of ASR and certainly NEVER used their “services”.

Scammers with a posh website - AVOID!
Before you use their services please do the following to avoid be caught out by these con artists:
- Find out the address they want to take your vehicle to before they collect it
- Take any written quote with a pinch of salt as they refused to honour mine because they priced it incorrectly
- Have a look around the market at other gearbox specialists, repairers or garages and get quotes to compare to
- Beware of any hidden charges they will try and add to the service you’re paying for
The service I received was unprofessional and deceiving and explain why bellow.
I initially booked in with this garage for a gearbox diagnosis and investigation. the diagnosis service was quoted at £80+VAT to collect and investigate the issue with my DSG box.
At this point the service I received was good and I saw no reason to doubt the legitimacy. My vehicle was collected and was with the garage a week and a half before they got back to quote me for new DSG clutch packs. I should also note at no point before my car was collected was I told the location of where it was being taken to and had I not got the address off the recovery driver I might have never known.
I was quoted £3.1K to change my DSG clutch packs!!!
They priced the replacement part at £1100+VAT but with a little research and speaking with TPS (VW’s trade parts supplier) I found the cost of the part was around £650 inc VAT. This is not to mention the ridiculous labour they charge on repairs.
I have spoke to numerous other garages regarding this and they have all given me the same price range for this work to be done. The second most expensive quote I received was £2k almost eleven hundred pounds cheaper than what these scammers were trying to charge.
I should also note by choosing to not fall for their scam I have been referred to as “broke boy” by one of their employees. Very professional…
As any sane person would do I declined the ridiculously over priced quote that was offered and went ahead to pay them for the work that was carried out (collection and diagnosis).
I willingly paid for the work done and what I had been quoted but they wanted to bill me for the recovery of my vehicle a second time at a additional £150+VAT each way for collection and delivery.
Even though I paid what was quoted I was threatened that my vehicle would not be released to me until I agreed to their terms and paid the additional charges they wanted to add on. Only with the mention reporting them to trading standards and getting a small claims court involved did they release my car back to me when I showed up at one of their garages.
Funniest part of all this is they claim to be transparent and honest but they are far from it and I would warn others to think twice before going through the experience I did.

Communication & service with ASR was excellent from my initial contact seeking advice on my gear box repair, to confirmation at every stage, including the initial quote, car collection, diagnostic result, repair & payment confirmation to vehicle return.
ASR was also significantly cheaper than the quote from the garage that my car was initially with. They also prioritised my repair so that I would have my car back for a a planned trip away, thank you Max.
I only had a positive response with this company & I would highly recommend them,

A great service from Max and the team at ASR GEARBOX REPAIRS after the shock of the quote from Nissans for a new gearbox which was over what was paid for my wife's Juke we found ASR GEARBOX REPAIRS who contacted us the same day of our enquiry and told us what the problem could be and gave us a rough estimate the same day then picked up the car from a Nissan Dealer and after the repairs and the final bill was paid returned the car to our home address would recommend if you have problems with your gearbox contact ASR.

I cannot thank Max enough!
I cannot thank Max enough! He’s put up with me and the awful warranty company that I had bought with my car for weeks now.
All communication from Max has been clear, right from the start. Max has been kind, considerate and understanding about the whole situation. He’s worked with me to get a decent outcome with the warranty company, even though they’ve been a pain to deal with.
As soon as my car was with the team, the diagnostics had been done the same day, and the work to fix my car had been done within 48 hours of being given the go ahead by the warranty company. If the warranty company hadn’t been awful to work with, I have no doubt that I would’ve had my car back within a week! Max organised the pick up and delivery of my car, it arrived back to me today and it sounds like a dream!
So thankful to Max and the team! You have all been angels. And I apologise for the difficult warranty company.

New gearbox
Called these guys up needing a repair on my gearbox, straight away Max was on the case organising a loader to pick up my car. Car was in and out within a week. Car driving good as new. Would highly recommend. Very good customer service.

The gear box in my Ford Focus automatic stopped working. It was quite expensive to fix.
But to be truthful the service throughout was impressive and the car drives good as new. They fixed my car in a faster time period than I expected and the pick up and delivery service they offer is convenient when you can't drive the car.
5 stars would definitely use again !
