I unfortunately experienced a gearbox breakdown and was struggling to come right with my normal service station, coming across ASR Gearbox Repairs I immediately made a call to see if I could get help and started working with Elliot.

Being worked up, worried and unsure what was going to unfold moving forward Elliot listen to me, stayed calm and collected, and walked me through the steps there was going to be expected moving forward and gave me assurance that I was in good hands.

My car has been in the shop for a few weeks and Elliot has kept me up to date through the process which has helped me manage my stress levels as I need my car and has been excellent with his customer service.

The service team who worked on my ZF 8 gearbox, thank you so much for the hard work that you guys put into my gearbox. It is very much appreciated the detail you guys did into the work. I am sure it was no easy task! The gearbox is large and heavy but I hope you also enjoyed the experience on working on one of these.

I had my Nissan juke 2018 fixed as my gear box went and was in desperate need to get it fixed james and the team was really helpful and explained everything that they did and they even picked my car up from my home and told me what the issues was I have had my car back now for the pass 2 weeks and it work a absolute dream thank you james and the guys I would definitely recommend

Efficient and helpful with good and informative communications

The company were very straight forward to deal with. I was updated regularly by Elliot who explained clearly what was happening to my car. It was nice to deal with real people and not a chatbot.

Amazing work and customer service was phenomenal, very transparent and easy to communicate with.

And when I declined their services i eventually had to threaten police action for the return of my car which came with a LEZ fine in the post.

The whole process from start to finish was seamless and quick the vehicle was picked up from and delivered to the correct location

I had an issue post a service at another garage who advised I had a transmission problem.

The garage made a recommendation but I found ASR through Google reviews. The minute my query was received, Chris rang me to talk through the concern and from what I described the potential causes and the potential costs associated so I knew in advance what I might be looking at.

The car was booked in the next day and the recovery team turned up and collected seamlessly.

The diagnostic work and repair work was complete. As it turned out, the issue was different than expected (and had been advised by an earlier service garage) but positively from both a work needed and associated cost perspective.

Again, Chris called and talked me through the detail in a way I understood (I am not particularly well educated in car mechanics!) and shared photos of the cause of the issue.

Car is due back with me at a time that works to be home which again is fabulous service.

I honestly could not recommend ASR more highly. They have been open with communication, pricing and reassurance throughout.

Chris has been fantastic and the team supporting delivery/collection as well as the wizard of a technician who fixes it have been incredible.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone else looking for assistance at all - they are a great find, a great business and all round great people.

After I called many companies to solve my mechatronic unit, Rockie explained everything over the phone, answered every question, and sent me an email with all the information needed. AVOID THIS GARAGE AT ALL COST!!!!!!

My car had an issue selecting 6th gear on my KIA Sportage so I contacted ASR Gearbox repairs and was advised a full gearbox recondition was necessary. I was quoted around £3,526.42 which then increased to £3,868.42 due to the clutch also needing replacement. I was also told via voicemail that I would be charged storage fees despite the vehicle being left on a public road ( I was tracking its location throughout)

I explained I wanted to go through my car warranty, which the warranty claim did not get approved.

I called ASR gearbox repairs and initially agreed to proceed. However, within 45–50 minutes, I called again to cancel and clearly instructed them to stop any work, as I could not access the funds I expected.

I was told this was not possible that the car was already on the ramp, the gearbox had been removed, parts ordered, and work had already started. This is highly questionable given that gearbox removal alone typically takes a minimum of around 3 hours maximum of 5 hours. Despite cancelling within the hour, they refused to stop, stating they had a recording of me agreeing to proceed.

I was offered a finance option, which I declined, but was still told my best option was to continue as the work had already started.

The following day, I contacted Citizens Advice Bureau, who confirmed I was well within my rights to cancel and that consumer protection laws support this. I also contacted the MET Police for some sort of guidance and was advised to follow what I was told Citizens Advice Bureau.

I then called ASR gearbox repairs and informed them I would be recording the call for my own records, and requested a copy of their cancellation policy which I was told they will have to ask the manager about that, how can you not have a cancellation policy at hand?? I again made it clear I could not afford the repairs. I was told this was not their concern and was even encouraged to take out a bank loan.

I was again told the vehicle was in a garage, on a ramp, with the gearbox removed and work ongoing since the previous day. When I asked for the location of the garage, they refused to provide it. They again reconfirmed that the gearbox had been removed and work had started and it’s best to continue with the work.

However, I physically located my car parked on a public road exactly where it had been left since it was collected the previous Thursday. It had not moved at all, (I took a video and pictures and while doing that noticed they disconnected both of the dash cams). I informed them that my car has a tracker and that it can confirm that my car had never moved since it was collected and dropped off at the location it’s currently at.

So while I was being told work was actively underway, the vehicle had not even been moved.

I made it clear to them that I have reference number from Citizens Advice Bureau who has reported it to Trading Standards, and also one from the MET Police, (whom I will be calling to update and also escalate). I also stated I will only be paying for collection and diagnostics which amounted to £252.00 nothing further, to which they agree, within minutes of making the payment my car key was delivered to me where I was stood with my car.

I don’t think they expected me to say that the car has a tracker in it all this time.

So they thought disconnecting the dashcam would allow them to hide their DECEITFULNESS …. All that did was just put my car at risk of being damaged without being able to have recorded evidence. I wonder what they would have said then if someone actually did damage my car??

Why disconnect a dash cam!!!!

Make your own judgement, but based on this experience, I strongly advise reading reviews carefully before choosing ASR Gearbox Repairs!!!

Protect yourself install a dash cam and have a tracking system, as they will refuse to tell you where your car is located. (My car was taken 1hr 15min from my home to get diagnosed even though on their website there are supposed locations that are much closer than where they took it)

I WILL NOT RECOMMEND!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

I would like to thank Elliot and the team for the wondeful work in getting my car's transmition repaird. I have found the MPH has now improved since the repair. Once again I am so greatful. I would gladly recommend your service.

Had a major issue with the transmission system on my car which meant I needed the whole lot replacing. I contacted ASR for a quote, the techinal advisor I was speaking to, Elliot, was knowledgeable and arranged immediately for my car to be collected and inspected. Even though there were plenty of issues with my car they went above and beyond to fix them, in the end I was without my vehicle for a month but that was due to how bad the damage was. Elliot and Chris (the operations manager) kept me up to date throughout. My car has now been delivered back to me and is running perfectly. I would recommend ASR to anyone looking at getting work done to their transmission. Thanks so much for all your work.

It was my first time dealing with this company, I spoke to James on the phone, he is/was very helpful and understanding with my BMW issues and very helpful in trying to resolve my problem, I'm going to recommend to my friends and anyone who asks if I know anywhere they can take thier car to, I recommend those who are reading this to give them a call you won't be sorry you did, a big thank you for having a wonderful term working for you.
