7th - 14th GVA to Val Claret

7th - 14th GVA to Val Claret return.

Trip out was fine, however return leg was a nightmare.

initially one of the two drivers said he would collect us at Val Thorne, which was quickly resolved, however he arrived 20 mins late without the baby seat or two child seats as requested in the booking.

I did not get an acceptable resolution after raising as a formal complaint.

It is illegal to travel with a baby under 2 years of age without a car seat in France when driving in a car. French road safety laws require all children under 10 years old to be secured in an approved child safety seat appropriate for their age, weight, and height while traveling in a vehicle.

For babies, this typically means using a rear-facing infant car seat. The only exceptions to this rule are for taxis, but even in taxis, it is strongly recommended to use a car seat for safety.

If you’re planning to travel in a car, ensure you have a car seat that complies with European safety standards (look for an ECE R44/04 or R129 label). Not adhering to these rules can result in fines and pose significant safety risks to the child.

Failed to deliver a transfer booking despite being agreed in writing. Communication was very poor when I tried to confirm. No solutions offered. Avoid.

I don't think I have ever written a 1 star review of a transfer company before but in this case I don't think I have any choice but to warn fellow skiers to understand the risks with booking with Alpy for a transfer this season.

I used the company last season and they were fine and Alpy reached out to me by Whatsapp (using my phone details from when I booked a year ago) offering to give me a lift this season with a 20% early bird discount. They offered me a fair price and I confirmed over whatsapp and was sent a confirmation email with all the details to fill in. I sent this back on November 13th all filled in correctly and asked for a prepayment link.

Approaching my trip in December, I messaged them for confirmation and to ask for the payment link again. I messaged them (twice) and no response. It is now only 4 days before I took the flight and needed the transfer so I was concerned. I sent them an email and a reply came shortly saying this:

"Dear James,

We sincerely apologize for missing your earlier email and for not being able to confirm your booking on time. Unfortunately, due to high demand, we are fully booked for the 14th of December and do not have any availability in our schedule to accommodate this transfer.

We deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused and truly appreciate your understanding."

I was left with very little option as it was so late in the day and the transfers were now around 200-300Euro more expensive as a result. I note they didn't even offer to help me find a solution but just left the problem entirely to me. They could have tried to find a backup driver or suggested some other companies to call.

I know businesses make mistakes but it's the very poor communication and lack of willingness to help solve a problem of entirely own making, that I don't like. I would consider this carefully before making a booking with them as getting to your resort destination is obviously key to having a great ski holiday,

Remember, they reached out to me to book this in the first place and then completely failed to confirm or deliver. I gave them the full details over email and asked to make a payment. I had to chase them several times just to let me know that they had failed to do any of what they agreed with me. This is their office at fault, not an individual driver.

When we initially provided you with a quote and confirmation details, we also mentioned that bookings are only secured upon payment. However, we fully acknowledge that it was our responsibility to follow up in a timely manner and notify you that we had not received the payment, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of availability for your requested transfer. For this, we sincerely apologize.

We completely understand how frustrating this must have been, especially given the rising costs of alternative transfers so close to your trip. We should have communicated better and informed you sooner so that you had the opportunity to make other arrangements. That was our mistake, and we deeply regret any stress or inconvenience this caused.

We are continuously working on improving our booking and communication processes to prevent similar issues in the future. While we know this doesn’t change your experience, we hope you’ll accept our sincere apologies. If there’s anything we can do to make it right, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Nice flexibility

We were informed that our flight was delayed the night before and at the same time our connecting flight had to be changed. Alpy adjusted the pick-up time accordingly and they were very flexible. There was chocolate and water in the car, which was a nice little extra for a long trip.

No-show transfer company

Had email communications with their manager that my transfer reservation was all booked. He advised they will collect me at 11:30am from my hotel to take me to airport.
No-one turned up. Called them and they said they have no booking for me and will call me back in a few mins. Again had to call and was told they are looking into it. 12pm, i called again and they said no booking.

Had to frantically look for a taxi to take me airport or i would have missed flight.

Have emailed them asking for explanation, but no response received.

Poor communication

Arrived at Geneva airport on time and no driver waiting at arrivals. No communication to say drivers were going to be late. Had to make 9 phone calls before I got some contact to find out where they were. One minibus arrived 75 mins late, the second bus over 2 hours late. Communication was poor throughout.
On return, again one of the minibuses was 15 mins late making it tight for time through security.

Then i was not offered any compensation for the issues, they claimed delays and strike action in France. However if we had known this we would’ve been more accepting. Started the holiday off on a negative.
Booked through Hoppa and this was the company we were allocated.
Would be very wary to use again.
