Might be going back for bike #3....!
My first experience was building a titanium gravel bike. I brought in the gravel bike I was riding at the time, and a custom road bike that is extremely comfortable to ride. I wanted this Alchemy gravel bike to be as comfortable as my road bike, but could also handle gravel roads like the current gravel bike but also go off the beaten path like a mountain bike. While I didn't need for this new gravel bike to handle technical mountain bike trails, I wanted it to handle single track that had some roots and rocks. What ended up being built was an amazing and comfortable gravel bike that was extremely versatile, stable, and rowdy-FUN! I couldn't be happier with the entire process and I absolutely love my gravel bike!
My first experience was great, that I went back when I was looking to upgrade my mountain bike. Alchemy was the ONLY bike shop that had demo bikes. While I would be more comfortable on a small frame, the Arktos 130, that has 'flip chip' where the back wheel could be swapped between 27.5 and 29, the medium frame with the smaller wheel made this bike easy to ride. I'm barely 5'4" and the Arktos 130 mixed wheel pedals easy uphill, goes up and over and down stuff easily with the bigger wheel upfront, but easy to get through turns with the smaller wheel in the back. It feels like it hugs the trail with ease making the flowy stuff fun and fast!

Arktos 120
Ordering was easy. Alchemy took my measurements and other data and used them to configure the bike for me prior to shipping. Bike came well packed and mostly assembled. Good communication from Alchemy during the process and great customer service.

If you get a bike don't get a custom one
My experience on getting a new custom road bike was abysmal. Per reviews it seems OK if you are getting a prefab one (you can take that back) - My real issue was the toe overlap, it was way too much for my tastes.
Bryce was both dismissive and condescending to me during all of this. I was no peach to work with but then again I had 10K invested

Ah, yes! The dreaded issues that can come from the challenges of custom bike geo are very real. We are sad to hear about your negative experience. We are always striving to improve the experience for our riders, so we will surely take this to heart. Love it when someone admits their own share of the responsibility for a negative experience, but we believe the responsibility lies with the seller. It's rare, but sometimes the custom experience lends itself to missed expectations and for that, we are sorry. Thank you for your review! We will do better.

Didn’t appreciate the (condescending) attitude I received. But then again it’s not the first time this has happened with Alchemy. Love the bike, but the customer service could be better. Or maybe just hire nice people. Definitely does not make me want to spend more $ on another bike if they give 0 F’s toward an existing customer.
