Air miles does put you on hold, but they do eventually phone you back, and then they will bend over backwards to help you. I will continue to take full advantage of the air miles program provided .

Looking to reset my pin online but keep getting error message. Called the 1888-247-6453/416-226-5171 and attempted the self-help but it keeps rejecting my birth year. Called BMO and they confirmed my info but advise I must reach out Air miles as they can't do much. First call was made at 0930 ET, and I got a response that their office is closed. tried again at 1130am. placed on hold for two hrs and I opted for a call back option. after an hr and half, my phone rang, and I pressed 1 to speak to an ambassador but the call went back to on hold mode for another hr or so. I finally gave up and hangup.
How the mighty have fallen
I got my Air Miles card back in 1992, the first year of operations. I collected tons of A.M. points and used them for all sorts of valuable purchases and services. The company began going downhill by about 2010 and has only gotten worse since. They tried to create an expiry on points, hoping to get millions of dollars in points nullified, but they were sued and lost. The company has been struggling since. Bank of Montreal bought them recently, and I honestly believe the services have gotten worse (hard to believe) .You basically can't reach them by phone (hours of wait time, or it says "call back another day"). They have an email address, which they hide from clients, but don't worry, they ignore them anyway (I've tried twice now). The "dream miles" merchandise has totally inflated values, like three times or more what it would cost in a store (I'be got hundreds of dollars worth I haven't found a use for). The stores in their AIrMilesShop have so many exclusions and exceptions on what will get Air Miles and what won't that you will be driven nuts trying to find anything that does offer them, and they change monthly. I've had to return items numerous times due to the Air Miles offers being invalid by the fine print. I had hoped when Bank of Montreal bought them, that things would improve, but I think the problems are so baked into their DNA that its pretty hopeless. My suggestion is don't waste your time. There are numerous loyalty programs which actually have value, and operate above board. Airmiles is not one of them. I can't give one date for one event because the problems have been ongoing. I've had five incidences in the last two months where Air Miles ended up excluded from my purchases on AirMilesShop, or I had issues cashing them in at the very few sponsors they have left.

I received an email from their fraud department, seems somebody bought something with my miles. I barely use this card as its pretty much worthless. there is no way somebody could do this unless an inside job. So they tell me to call, cannot answer email. I call and so far on hold for three hours. Their chat line told me I had to call. But they do not answer, just keep you on hold. At a loss here, Cant imagine this airmiles thing will be viable with this kind of service.

I spent 3 hours on hold with no sign of it ending in sight. I needed a real time problem fixed and there is no help. The Chat box is useless. Hire more people! Get a better bot! The service industry isn't rocket science get better systems in place to solve problems faster, encourage work from home scenarios to hire more staff. listen to your staff's complaints and build a better business from it. Has no one learned that your front lines can help solve your problems.
If your company is though self sabotaging then well good luck to you.

Too bad I couldn't give 0 . The worst customer service if even exists. Nobody answered the phone. I have been staying on the line for hours and no answer . I used my dream airmiles to buy a business tote bag Bugatti. When I received the bad I find out it was a fake one .NO LOGO outside or inside in the bag how should be on the real one. SUCH A SCAM COMPANY. I hope they got under. And let real companies to take over.

worst customer service ever. I have been calling and waiting in line for more than 40 mins three times and then it just hang up. I haven't been this frustrated with a customer service without talking to anyone.

Bad experience with Airmiles. I will not be surprised if this company will go out of business (at least in .ca) just based on the negative reviews alone. Anyways, they took my points and I have to buy them to get them back which I think is ridiculous. I was also wondering why a lot of businesses that I frequent cut ties with Airmiles and I think I just answered my question. The customer service with Airmiles is going downhill.

I am still on hold with Air Miles after 2 1/2 hours! I suppose I could tolerate this - if it wasn't for the constant bombardment with 'we are experiencing a greater than normal.....' myth. This is clearly nonsense as they have been using the same roboanswer for over a year. It took me 1 1/2 hours to reach an 'ambassador' who then promptly transferred me to another department and I'm still waiting.
This is the second such experience. Because of a missed connection I had to reschedule a flight from Yellowknife to Edmonton last month. First problem; Air Miles does not allow any carrier to change an Air Miles flight AND Air Miles works banking hours - this was a Sunday so no chance of changing the flight for a flight that day. Monday morning, I spent another 2 1/2 hours on hold listening again to that absurd 'higher than normal volume of calls' before I finally connected and changed my flight.
This terrible service is completely inexcusable. Any company is responsible for servicing its customers and if their staff are overloaded - hire more - for Pete's sake.
My urgent advice is to avoid AM for booking air travel - you have a very high chance of being abandoned after hours or on weekends. Save your points for purchases that don't have built in time deadlines.
Edit Hours later: After 3 1/2 hours - 6 pm - I knew my call would never be taken and gave up. By the way, I have tried their option of leaving a number for a call back. They have NEVER returned the call, not the same day, not the next.

Two hours, two minutes and two seconds: I was calling air miles Canada for forgetting my collector number. I did go online and it said that my email and password is not correct while my email and password is correct. However, yesterday I called at 10 am. I was on hold for 2 hours and 2 minutes and 2 seconds (I screen shot the time and I wish there was a spot to post it within my review) and no one answered me. I wanted to stay longer and I knew hundred percent it would be going to 4 hours, but I could not. The strange thing was during these two hours kept telling me that your call was important to us! I am asking a question: If your customer service phone is in such a worse, bad and dishonest situation why just remove it from your services and do not lie to your clients and people any more.
Airmiles rendered almost worthless
Airmiles just changed how they price flight rewards to increase some flight routes by 10 times making current airmiles almost worthless. If using airmiles for flights its best to cut your losses and move to a better points program that values loyal patrons.

336 HOUR Phone Wait Time...
I have been a collector since 2005. I moved to a small town wayyyyy up north for work with no local options to collect points. I guess my account goes dormant after 24 months, so apparently I am no longer a collector.
I called to ask what can be done and was on hold for 1 HOUR and 45 MINUTES *before* the option was offered to have the call back service. During the time I was on hold the recording suggested that the wait time "could be more than one hour".
Finally TWO HOURS later the call back came where I was informed by an automatic voice that there was no time left for me today.
I was prompted to select a new call back starting from a week today, so I requested next Monday at 9:30 and the machine said, "that time is not available, the next time slot is available Monday, July 19th at 10:00am", (I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea), which is TWO weeks away.
Could that not have been expressed to me when I made the original phone call? I'm juggling an at-home business, a busy dog and a 10-month-old who gets into everything these days. AND to be tied to my phone with sad hopes a person was going to answer any minute.
That suggested wait time of one hour actually turns out to be 336 hours! Hahaha.
Ripped off Alzheimers patient!!!
I must admit I had no idea that Airmiles was such a scumy organization! My dad has been collecting Airmiles for as long as I can remember, but for the last 4 years has been suffering from Alzheimers disease, and recently I cleared out his wallet and found his trusty Airmiles card only to find that the company Airmiles had deleted all his Airmiles to 0. After a call to complain, the best they would offer was a sorry for your luck & was there anything else they could help me with. What a heartless scam of an organization! Please delete your Airmiles account as soon as you can before they do it for you for some reason they decide to make up in the future.
A Ricochet Between Bank and Airmiles
I was trying to redeem the points on my BMO Mastercard and merge with my regular collectors card. I ended up going back and forth between BMO and Airmiles with each representative saying it had to be resolved with the other party. My BMO credit card is solely under my name, but for some reason Airmiles is saying the account is under somebody else's name. I've been a loyal supporter and client for almost 10 years, which is quite a long time, and to be told that I can't be helped, This isn't acceptable. This situation has made me come to the realization that I don't even want to be an Airmiles collector anymore, and I no longer want to support them.
I never saw anything I wanted to redeem my points on, but yesterday I found something, so I was really looking forward to redemption. Airmiles reps refused to escalate my concern to a supervisor, which leads to problems never reaching resolution. It's something that's very frustrating because to me it says they don't care about their clients.
To get points, you have to spend $25, and that will give you one point. It's a lot of money to spend for the value you're given, especially since I leave feeling undervalued, don't have access to my account, and my points feel like they're now lost forever.
Would I recommend Airmiles to anybody? Not anymore. They didn't help me, so I don't think they will help you if you ever need it.

Bonjour, le 14 décembre 2020, j'ai contacté Air Miles pour faire des réservations pour 2 couples . Départs et retours de deux villes différentes . Une destination avec des billets payés en 2019 pour des vacances en 2020 mais remis en 2021 à cause de la Covi-19 . J'ai parlé à Stéphan Soucy qui m'a donné un service impeccable. Accueil et écoute respectueuses. Il m'a expliqué que les informations changent souvent et m'a mise en attente pour consulter ses supérieurs et régler adéquatement la situation. J'ai apprécié son professionnalisme , sa bonne humeur, son contact facile ,sa façon d'expliquer simplement les démarches, les étapes ,les imprévus. Merci beaucoup Stéphan. Nous restons positifs pour aller aux Iles de la Madeleine en 2021.
Not worth the time and effort
Not worth the time and effort. Takes me almost 6-7 months to earn $10 to use and that is with using it faithfully every day with a min purchase of $20 to $30.00 which is only worth .10 cents for a airmile. Funny how they do not pay up faithfully on the bonus airmiles. You have to go on line to check and they want you to confirm purchase time and sponsor but only after several months has passed that they are missing. So you have to make sure you have documented every purchase to confirm if they paid you.
I can't believe this business is still in operation
There are restrictions and fees at every turn and customer service is neither helpful nor available when needed most. The airlines also treat customers who redeem Airmiles as expendable bumping to different seats and flights at the last minute. The program really need a comprehensive overhaul if it is to remain relevant to consumers. There are so many better rewards programs out there. Go pick one.
Waste of Time and Poor Customer Service
I already knew Airmiles was bad as I never had enough miles, they never had tickets on the dates I wanted to fly and taxes were more expensive than full tickets on other websites. So I already wanted to cancel. To use my last set of miles that I had been accumulating for a while, I got a water bottle (of course this is all I could get...). They sent it with a courier that didn't give it to me, sent it to a warehouse an hour away from my house, and I can't get in touch with Airmiles because there's no email to contact them, the chatbot doesn't know what I'm asking and the live chat doesn't work. A waste of time. It would've been cheaper to pay full price for the bottle than all this hassle. And I would have the bottle. Adios, airmiles.
