UPDATE:CLICK MY USER PHOTO FOR INVOICE OF THIS TRANSACTION
After numerous calls and one to the complaint department at Godaddy (who advised they can’t do anything and I must call Afternic) My money hit my bank account at 11 pm at night last night! It wasn’t worth it especially after they took 30%! I am glad to report I did not get robbed but they surely were working the same plan as many here have experienced! I had enough time on hold with go daddy to buy some domain names to create a few websites and publish so the world knows to beware of Afternic! AfternicReviews.com and AvoidGodaddy.com are in the works and will go live soon. No matter the outcome, taking 30% and then putting the customer (me) through hoops of fire is a joke. This service is worth no more than 10% of at all . My life’s goal at this moment is to MAKE ALL DOMAINERS both buyer and seller aware of what’s to come for them when dealing with Afternic and Godaddy as they are the parent company. Afternic needs a person like me to run it so they can regain their image which they may have never had a positive one. Beware of both if you like a stress free transaction. There are other great sites to buy and sell which Inhave always used in the past. Unfortunately for me, the buyer found AICERTIFICATE.COM on Afternic . I prefer sedo, flippa, and others as they have NEVER put me through such a fiasco. Have even in the domain game since 1997 and Afternic takes the cake for their process, fees and service.
***INITIAL REVIEW***
I just read these reviews and feel the same is happening with me! They sold my domain name AICertificate.com for $4,444 and then took 30% transferred my name to the new buyer and have yet to get paid. The first time they said the tax forms weren’t filed correctly. I rectified that with a Transaction assurance agent over the phome who knew nothing which dumbfounded me. She said she saw the forms completed and the payout would be done at 9 am EST Today. The website is super buggy which i figured out for afternic. I called this morming to verify the payout was complete to only be told by Dena that now this could take 24-48 hours to process then 1-5 days to hit my bank! I’m pissed and just yanked all my domains from afternic and when back to the office will pull all from Godaddy and Dynadot! I won’t be robbed by anyone yet I feel I have been at this point. The name is already someone else’s website and i have nothing. The assurance agent Lyubov even sent me an email stating my facts amd that the payput would be done this morming, but now the story has changed. i will sue everyone out of principle on this one. Afternic, Godaddy and Dynadot!

Afternic is a complete scam! I sold a domain through their platform, and despite multiple confirmations from their support team that my payment was "successfully processed," I never received a single cent.
After waiting over 10 days, I contacted my bank, and they confirmed there was never even an attempt to transfer the money. Afternic first claimed the payment was sent, then changed their story and said the bank rejected it—a complete lie. The bank further confirmed that they do not block incoming transactions, and if there were an issue, the money would have been placed in a temporary account. That never happened because Afternic never actually sent the money.
I repeatedly requested a SWIFT transaction document as proof of payment, but Afternic refused to provide it. Instead, they sent an internal receipt from their payment processor, which is NOT a proof of transaction. My wife, who works at the bank, checked everything, and there was zero evidence of any payment attempt from Afternic.
Now they are ignoring my requests and refusing to provide real proof. This company is running a fraudulent operation, stealing money from domain sellers while pretending to make payments.
If you value your time and money, stay FAR AWAY from Afternic. I will be pulling all my domains from GoDaddy and warning others to avoid this scam at all costs. If they continue this behavior, legal action will follow.

I have sold 4 domains within last 12 months by using Afternic platform. Overall I have excellent experience. They charge 15% on sale if domain is using Afternic nameservers, 20% if using their nameserver along with boost feature and 30% if domain is using nameserver other than Afternic. My all 4 transactions were very smooth and I received payment on time without any problem.

Been with Godaddy since it started. Have spent thousands of $ on domains has i have several websites and lots of domains. Godaddy bought Afternic and from within my Godaddy account i listed tons of domains for-sale with internal account with afternic. I went through the entire back end within Godaddy and how they connect to their own brand Afternic. I even use my Godaddy login for the Afternic. Been loyal to the Godaddy brand forever and even own thousands of dollar of shares in stock. So was able to sell 2 domains this week and got good $ for them. Found out that the commission is 30% not the 20%. Even at 20% it seems high but for the security of all going through godadaddy escrow it is worth it. Afternic denied me the 20% rate due to some landing page policy meanwhile all my domains when you search for them all have url afternic.com and the rest of the url for that paricular domain. All i did was list the domains inside my godaddy / afternic account. Now they want to charge the 30% rate and not the 20% for whatever reason they have invented when i have had these listings live for years. Ever since Godaddy had it setup within your account. I have reached out to support and you get nowhere. Really pissed that Godaddy company would allow this to happen within their company. So i am advising anyone selling domains to never use afternic services especially at their high % rates. It is pure theft. Plus addressing the issue with support went nowhere. Really pissed since i have been loyal godaddy customer, stayed within my account , followed the internal process to have deception and spent thousands. To have this of process is aweful. Selling shares of stock. This review, people selling stock, and my own further business will add up to way more losses in customers and revenue, for what they do. I can see why now when i went to do this review i saw at 2.7 star rating. Never though that a Godaddy brand would have such a bad rating. Now you know why from a real loyal customer!!!!
Update for this review. After 4 different support contacts, they went to the 20% commission rate vs the 30% rate they charged. I listed these domains 3 years ago and let it just keeping running. Their policy changes is what caused the issue with them. Still was unhappy that i had to go through this process to get something that was listed, fair and proper pricing. Pay 30% commission on a $4k sale is absurd. I get the percentage wants to be higher for the low domain sales, but when they are higher in price, there should be a flat rate about a threshold. At least they resolved the issue with me after 4 days. I still stand by my review though since i had to go through the process.

They purposely drag their feet and delay payments on all 4 sales i have had over the past couple of years.
It really is ridiculous the level of control they have over the whole process. Go Daddy has created a monopoly and they write the rules.

Their customer support is a joke. Long wait times, unhelpful agents, and zero accountability. I had issues with my domain names, and it's not solved, support is slower than a turtle, They do not have instantane support in case you face any problem you have to wait for days or weeks. Dan was the most beautiful platform for buying and selling domains so they bought it instead of developing it they killed it.

Like many others, I initially had concerns after reading reviews about delayed or withheld payments, especially since we were selling a high-value domain (eggz.com). However, my experience with Afternic—especially working with Velizar Sofranov—was nothing but smooth, professional, and efficient. Velizar was incredibly patient in addressing my concerns, ensuring I was comfortable with every step of the process. He helped negotiate a price I was happy with, and the entire transaction, from agreement to completion, was executed in under a week. Most importantly, despite the size of the sale, the funds were securely transferred without any hidden fees or unexpected delays. If you're hesitant, I can confidently say that my experience proved Afternic operates with professionalism and reliability. Highly recommend!

Scam site
And very bad customer service
Site seller and I have the right to the money and every time I send them to send my money
They tell me that my Paypal account is not activated
The last message I received from them was yesterday
Today after I contacted PayPal
They confirmed that my account is active
I contacted customer service to tell me that my money had been transferred to unclaimed property
This is a scam... and I am not satisfied with this bad experience
I will not leave my money and I will tell everyone interested in selling domains about this bad experience so that they can leave working with you
I contacted the Unclaimed Property Office..
The site responded that my name is not in their records,
I believe this is the biggest evidence of your fraud and deception in stealing money..
Note that I contacted customer service to inform me of the data that was sent to the unclaimed property website, and they did not inform me of anything except one message only. The problem is being resolved, and so far the problem has not been resolved, and I have not waived my right.

Afternic, GoDaddy’s partner for selling domains, might be the worst in customer service and buyer protection. I discovered they sold my URL without authorization, and within 24 hours, it was gone—completely unrecoverable.
I contacted GoDaddy immediately, but they could only email Afternic. Even though I followed all protocols and flagged the issue right away, they still transferred the domain to the buyer. Their response? They had already processed it and couldn't undo the sale. Worse yet, Afternic has no direct phone support. I had to push GoDaddy just to get connected with them.
If you value your domain, **DO NOT TRUST THEM**—you could lose it
They transferred me to the afternoon 800 number and talked to some guy who said they can’t do anything even though below they gave me 800. He’s said we can’t send to back to me. I would delist.

I’m happy with the Tech Agents I speak with, but I’m unhappy that I need to contact Afternic on 500 plus GoDaddy domains that when listed for sale, show up as “unavailable” : (
This has been an ongoing 2 year nightmare that appears to be un fixable by either GoDaddy or Afternic WTF ?!?

Afternic Scam Exposed: How They Steal from Sellers
If you're a domain seller considering Afternic, BEWARE. My recent experience has proven that Afternic is nothing more than a scam platform that deducts unjustified fees and refuses to pay rightful earnings.
My Story
I sold a domain on Afternic for $70, expecting a smooth transaction. Instead, I faced hidden charges and poor customer support. They deducted $60 from my sale, citing vague and unjustified payout failure fees, leaving me with $10—which they refused to pay due to their so-called minimum payout threshold.
What Afternic Doesn't Tell You:
Hidden Fees: They never informed me about multiple payout attempt fees until AFTER the sale.
Lack of Transparency: The dashboard doesn't show these fees. You only find out after they take your money.
Minimum Payout Scam: They keep your money if it’s below their payout threshold.
Zero Accountability: Even after escalating the issue, they hide behind scripted responses and never take responsibility.
Afternic vs Other Platforms
Unlike platforms like Sedo, Fiverr, or Freelancer.com, where fees are transparent and payments are secure, Afternic's practices are deceptive. Other platforms protect sellers’ rights; Afternic exploits them.

Afternic did a great job selling and providing prompt payment for my domain sold on their marketplace.
The domain transfer went smoothly and the payment was quickly received. Their Transaction Assurance team appears to be "on the ball!"
Thanks, Afternic!

My First Sale with Them, and My First Disappointment
I sold a domain on Afternic, and I was so happy to make the sale. I filled out my tax forms and payout profile with my PayPal, and they scheduled my payment.
But in an unexpected move, right when I was supposed to receive my payment, they asked me to upload a passport ID. I've sold domains on other platforms, and they've never asked for that, but Afternic did it at the last minute, after they had already transferred my domain to the buyer.
I told them I wouldn’t upload any documents due to privacy concerns, especially since this was just a small sale, and they refused to pay me.
Now I’ve lost my valuable domain, my time, and my money.
I can understand if they require an ID for high-volume sales or premium domain deals worth thousands of dollars, but not for something this small.
I will update this if they finally decide to pay me.
Update: They finally sent me the payment.

Antwort von Afternic
It's almost impossible to get tech support. You are waiting on the phone forever. When you finally reach someone the issue you called about rarely gets fixed without 2-3 more calls.
