Interview Experience at 1BUY.AI – Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional
I had a very disappointing interview experience with 1BUY.AI.
Before the interview, I was informed by Mr. Subhankar Ghose (VP – Human Resources) and Mr. Ashok Kumar (Talent Acquisition) that there would be only one offline final interview round with the founder for the role. Based on this communication, I took an entire day off, spent time and money traveling to their office, and prepared thoroughly for what I expected to be a meaningful discussion about the position.
Unfortunately, the actual interview was nothing like what had been communicated.
Instead of discussing the role, my professional experience, technical expertise, marketing strategies, leadership experience, or the responsibilities of the position, Mr. Subhankar Ghose spent most of the interview asking questions that I found unrelated to the role, including my educational background and other personal career details. Surprisingly, not a single meaningful question was asked about the job profile, my domain expertise, or how I could contribute to the company.
The founder interview that had been promised never took place. After a brief discussion, I was simply asked to leave without any explanation or role-specific assessment.
What disappointed me the most was the lack of transparency and respect for a candidate's time. Candidates invest considerable effort in preparing for interviews, traveling to the office, and arranging their schedules. If the interview process or decision changes, it should be communicated honestly rather than asking candidates to travel based on inaccurate expectations.
My feedback for 1BUY.AI is:
Be transparent about your interview process and the actual interview stages.
Respect candidates' time, travel, and effort.
Ensure interviews evaluate candidates based on the role they have applied for instead of focusing primarily on irrelevant topics.
Conduct structured, role-specific discussions that allow candidates to demonstrate their skills and experience.
Based on my personal experience, the interview process lacked professionalism, clear communication, and candidate respect. I hope the company improves its hiring practices and provides a more transparent and meaningful interview experience for future candidates.
