We were supposed to have ,4 'Youngs' fillets of Cod in batter, with our salad for tea. These were very, very poor quality. A small soft cardboard box , half full of air the other, 4 very small fish. Cooked to instructions. Upon dishing up they looked very thin, and horrible. They were so hard to cut up, rock hard in fact..... Once we did they all had just a paper thin piece of grey stuff, inside, or whatever we ate and it was so hard , dark, and.greasy. Simply disgusting, indigestible and very off putting. I can't believe what poor quality food 'Youngs' sold us for good, hard earned money. Therefore the last time we buy any of their products, we have had the same issue before with their battered fish fingers & other fish products. Read all these reviews and hopefully you will not waste your money on this trash like we did

Always a trusted source of frozen scampi. But not now. Taken photos plus kept a sample. Looks like they are using the same chemical as they do to prolong fish shelf life. Disgracefull. Wont buy ever again. Who do you think we are? Why would i eat something that people use to colour there hair? Or at least smells like it...

Now as a Food reviewer called Flavour Tasters on YouTube I would say that the amount of bad reviews on here seem to be unfair, atleast from what I have had. I just reviewed the Chip Shop Youngs Jumbo Fish Special, and it for a frozen isle of a shop is slightly better than the cheaper fish you would buy, now comparing it to an actual fish shop I would place this as 4.5/5 out of 10 right in the middle, I wouldn't say its high quality fish shop but I would say some basic fish shops could use this and it would get through past the general buyer but basically which is why if you rank it with Fishies 5/10 for freezer isle in ships its definately a 6.5/7 out of 10. I think the reviews here from my experience is a bit unfair however I wasnt their with the reviewers maybe they got some bad quality or bashed boxes, I am not having ago at them but from my experience it is basic quality nothing to shout home about if you wanted to go to a fish shop but if you're in a shop and you want fish, this is decent.

I tried their extra crispy fish fingers. I cooked them as instructed. They were not crispy and didn't really taste nice. Not very happy.

I used to think that Young's were reasonable quality especially the Chip Shop Fish but recently the fish have gone considerably smaller, for the same price of course. Young's must think its customers are stupid. Similarly, the Gastro basa fillets have suddenly changed shape and become long and narrow like a barge. The quality has plummeted too and the last fish I had was grey and not white. Pretty awful for a supposedly up-market fish.
I won't be buying Young's again, they are taking the piss.

Just the usual, pay more get less!

Question: how did you manage to make all the pieces so uniform?

The photos on the packaging are highly misleading. It gives the impression that the Gastro Basa fish fillet is two or three centimeters thick, whereas the reality is it's barely half that and more like a very flat portion of plaice. (Photos available).
The taste is also awful and should come with a health warning!

Bought an extra large frozen fish ? From asda I complained to youngs about the so called size of the product there more fish on a fish finger . Replay after 2 weeks from customer service I’ll refer to marketing . The I replied not good enough no reply please avoid this product .

Worse taste ever, would of got a better flavor if I air fried my dead grandads underpants. The stink when it was cooking was rancid, the fish didn't even fill the battered which was disgusting. I had more in the freezer and it's now in the bin because I don't want to my dog by feeding her this crap

Youngs Gastro Scampi inedible I would question if it is actually scampi! Disappointing don't think it was fish inside those crumbs.

When things go wrong - which they do - a good company deals with problem. Youngs just ignore you. I bought 3 bags of 'gourmet scampi' and in one bag most of the scampi was in a few huge lumps. I complained and when asked sent pack code details. Even though I have chased them I am being 'ghosted'. Dont think I will buy their products again.

Bought 2 boxes of the " Gastro Fish " absolutely vile..thin grey watery mashed fish of some sort. The crumb was soggy even my dog wouldn't eat it.
Emailed my complaint to Youngs seafood no response at all.....I have also eaten their Scampi, thick soggy crumb obviously the same c..p they use for all their stuff, with a tiny bit of maybe Scampi could be anything inside.....

Disgusting factory made gloop! I never write reviews, but this deserves publcity.
I detected no fish content at all. Zero flavour. The mash wouldn't brown, even under a finishing grill and tasted like reconstituted eggshells. The yellow patch in the middle (representing cheese) appeared to be just food dye. A disgraceful product. You would be better nourished with a slice of bread and butter. Food Standards Authority should force a withdrawal of this product.

Absolutely vile. I would give it no stars if there was an option.
The fish is about half inch thick. It was grey and definately not cod fillet.
The batter is rubbery and the " fake cod fillet" is "FISHY" . Tastes disgusting and will never buy this shit again.
I now have a vile taste in my mouth and the thought of it is making me want to puke.
YOUNGS GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, STOP SKIMPING.

Are you taking the pixx? I've just open a new box of Young's Chip Shop Cod 4 pack. The size has reduced by at least 30% but the price has increased by 25%. I eat this product a lot but not anymore, you are seriously taking the piss

I bought their battered fish it was terrible. What fish that was in there was soggy and there was no taste at all.

Disappointed with Youngs Fish fish shop to see it is only 50% fish. Cheaper makes offer higher levels of "real fish". The rest is made up of a whole range of fillers and preservatives. Poor eating experience.

Won't be buying again.
