Dealt with Scout Gear Trading Post (not Sierra Trading Post) for Jamboree shirts. First two times they were good to deal with and price was reasonable. The last Jamboree in 2023 I believe they changed ownership and the new owner - Mike - was difficult to deal with. It took him weeks to respond, tightened the schedule so much for on time delivery and charged a high price for the gear and delivery. When I questioned him on these issues, I got no response. I would have gone elsewhere, but I was out of time.
I bring this up now because I went local for the 2026 Jamboree and got such better service and price. I was able to reduce the price from $23/shirt to $13. The exact same brand, print color and design. I encourage you all to try your local shirt vendors to see if you can get a better deal. My experience with SGTP was truly painful. Two stars - the shirts they made ended up being good. See less

avoid this scam, they don't deliver the products, they don't accept returns, they don't respond to messages. aliexpres products at a price 6 times more expensive

Awful Shipping only Fex EX
Sierra Trading Post only uses Fed Ex and so our orders come weeks / Months / or never arrives. Fed Ex is awful IT would not make a difference if we had ordered from overseas. Sierra refuses to even use the USPS or UPS.
We can track our package to the Fed Ex Hub then they send it back to Sierra. This has occurred more than once. Sierra will say its a Fed Ex problem. No they use them as a Carrier and refuse to change.

No issues... I have gotten great deals with them for years. Maybe a little slow on shipping from time to time, but overall, I keep shopping for items from them.

I used to love STP. I even used to work there and it was a fun job - they paid us well, for retail mgmt. Now it sucks! Quality is way diminishes. Website is totally useless. Returns are a joke. Prices are higher than they used to be - it’s gone waaaaaaaay downhill. Just tried to purchase a few things online - the website crashed 10 times and I was unable to check out. Such a waste of time. I will never shop there again.

They won't process my return and refund my money. The robot told me within 3 days of receipt, I should have an email from them. I have not. When I threatened to go to my credit card company and have a hold put on the charge, I was told that I would never be able to shop there again. Why would I want to? I've spent thousands there over the years. They are no longer the same company.

Bought a pair of snow pants, size was barely too small. I only tried them on ONCE before immediately putting them back in the box it shipped in along with the packaging and shipping papers as instructed. I was credited immediately on the website and used it to buy the exact pants a size larger, which later arrived and fit perfectly. That should have been the end of it. About 2 weeks later I received the first pair back along with a shipping page and no original packaging, and a note explaining they were in bad condition (with marker highlighting the section about including the original packaging, which I did). I called customer support and they said to send them back along with a note explaining the situation, and that they would let the warehouse guys know to be on the lookout for them. That was all about 3 weeks ago. Today I once again received them back. No shipping paper, no return sticker, no original packing. Just the same note claiming bad condition with the same section about including original packaging highlighted. It's now clear to me that further attempts to return it are futile and I'll have to try and sell it myself. I will never again do business with Sierra Trading Post and will recommend the same to everyone I know.

I lived near a Sierra trading post up until 5 years ago and shopped the store often . I went online and noticed the products offered had not been as before but did find a fly rod that was a bargain. Purchased online for a gift and waited nearly 10 days to find out it was never in stock as published on website. Probably won’t waste my time ever again. Seems like they would have informed customer early on rather than later.

I use to shop a lot at Sierra before they were bought out. Quit shopping there because of lack of quality merchandise. Several years and now I have placed three orders within 7 weeks and the orders take 3 weeks to get to me and I live 2 hours from the warehouse. I’m done shopping there as it’s not worth the sales compared to the length of time for delivery.

I never write a bad feedback, but unfortunately this is the case.
This is a rip off company!
Extremely bad communication, long time waited to receive the items, disappointing quality of the products, for the return you have to pay for the shipping to be sent to Romania to a very high cost!
There are much better companies where you can find lovely products for a better quality!
Stay away from it!

I used to buy lots from this company. New owners or something has changed. Horrible customer service and very bad communications. We ordered boots. They were too small. Returned them for an exchange. Got an email saying the new order for the exchange was placed. The boots never arrived. I called. The person said...sorry, the order was canceled and I don't know why. Oh? I was never told any of that. I emailed customer service twice to ask what happened. I got no response. I will never order from this outfit again. Whatever happened to this nice company? What a shame!!!

Prices are pretty good and they have a wide selection. The items I've bought have always been what I expected.

However, making returns is not convenient compared to other retailers. It would be nice if you could return items to TJMax or Marshall's, since they are owned by the same company.

This company is horrible. I placed an order online and they cancelled it without notification. When I called customer service for the status, they told me there was an issue with verification of my credit card information. So I placed another order with the representative on the phone. Again, without notification, this order, too was cancelled. My credit card company told me they show two pending transactions for Sierra and my funds are being held until they go away. So $300 on my credit card and NO order. The charges will go away in a few days (how many is unclear) but they are holding $300 of my credit for orders they cancelled. Twice they cancelled my order because they couldn't confirm my credit card details but they somehow managed to be pending on my credit card. A total scam.

Their website is a mess. Try and use PayPal and you get a dead end. Try to see your order history. Same thing. No communications when item is shipped. It’s all a mystery. I’ve bought with them since the 90’s. Sold to a corporate holding company and they’ve destroyed it. Greedy, supposedly Christian owner sold out and screwed his staff and destroyed the company.

That company is total trash. Sent me the wrong items which wasted me much time to return and agents were incredibly rude and unhelpful. They promised me to refund me the price difference of shipping cost but never did so. They either ignored my messages or denied it. Will file a dispute against them. They should cease to exist for sure.

Sierra Trading Posts website sucks. A few years ago the website just went to crap. Half the time you click on a link and it doesn't even load. I have had it. Ordered from them for years. Trying to make a return, that I have to pay for, and the link doesn't work. By design? Perhaps. Have you ever tried to see your past orders? That broke for me about 2 years ago. They know its bad and could give a damn about fixing it after years. Over it. Not worth the trouble anymore.

I tried twice to place an order with Sierra and they cancelled my order each time because my billing address did not match my delivery address -- they don't know how to verify billing addresses. And their customer service is horrible, making me go into my account every day for 10 days to find out status, live chat and email to try to advise them, and they still couldn't manage to process an order with perfectly legit information. Stay away from ordering online with this company!!

I would leave a negative rating if possible. I ordered two one size fits all newsboys hats. The order totaled 19.99. The hats arrived and were huge. These hats were far from one size fits all. They swallowed my head. I returned the items using sierra's return label, in which I was charged for. Long story short, I paid $25.93 for a two poorly sized item only to recieve $13.03 in total return due to shipping fees. Customer service made no attempts to correct the experience.

If it was 1998 and I was on dial up then the molasses-in-winter S L O W load of Sierra's website would... well it would STILL be unbelievable! I mean seriously, it's 2022 and NO page of socks should take 5 minutes to load, and god forbid you want to delete something from your cart. Go to the kitchen and make a sandwich while you wait. It's inexplicable, inexcusable, and laughable. I like the selections and prices, but most of the time I just give up and shop elsewhere. You know . . . from companies with actual functioning websites where you DON'T need to take a sick day just to buy a t-shirt or two.
