Still No Statement. Still No Accountability.
Following my previous review, things have only grown more telling. The stream of suspicious 5-star reviews that once flooded this page has suddenly stopped—presumably because someone has stopped paying for them. How convenient.
Still, no announcement. No communication. No transparency. GAK has vanished—both their website and physical store are gone—without so much as a word to the customers they left stranded in the dark. No official statement. No closure. Just silence.
Meanwhile, their stock is quietly being offloaded to Gear4Music behind the scenes. So while customers are sitting in confusion, wondering if their money and trust meant anything, GAK is busy tying up their business through the backdoor—without a shred of respect for the people who supported them for years.
It's shameful. Disrespectful. And deeply unethical.
If you're reading this and still holding out hope for a refund, a reply, or any ounce of accountability—don’t wait for it. You deserve better than a company that ghosts its loyal customer base while pretending nothing happened.

Pretty scummy to see the new-ish owners and the venture capital firm screw over hardworking customers who've now lost their money & won't recieve their gear. Gary, the founder must be so disappointed by the actions of his former co-directors who not only got stung for price fixing with Yamaha but also destroying the legacy of a once great institution.
I got my first guitar from there, a gift from my parents in 96 and became a regular customer until the buy-out. After which the experienced and friendly staff were replaced with miserable people being paid minimum wage.
As always, once again venture capitalists ruin something because they weren't getting enough money.
They sent me a faulty guitar
They sent me a faulty guitar. Sure it was on sale but it was classed as "new". It had a wear on the board, someone probably sent it back and they sold it off to me. Truss rod was stripped so I can't fix the intonation issue it has (saddle height is maxed out as tall as it'll go and there is plenty of relief in the neck, and I'm not going to file down the frets myself or shim the neck) it should have come good to go out of the box. Everything else was fine, everything except the low E fret buzz. It makes it unplayable. Anyway, I put it back in the box it came in 2nd day of it arriving, contacted them for a replacement, got a response saying they'll process it in 3-5 days, I hear nothing from them for a whole week and ask for an update, another week has passed and I'm writing this review. Terrible. I will never use their company again. It's not the same company I've bought from in the past (bought my first guitar and amp from GAK when I was 15 about 2 decades ago). I understand their website has been down but you need to stay on top of your emails, no excuse. £600 down the drain. If they rectify this issue I'll update my review, but I have read online that they are closing down their store.

Just to add this on - I bought a guitar tge week BEFORE they went under.Sam, tge guitar guy did a p.ex deal with me ( a v.good one) and literally sent the guitar to me on the very day they mysteriously vaporised without trace.
My review only covers my personal experience and I have read some v.negative comments on here also but if this Company cannot continue I totally agree they should do right by their final customers or at least tell them whats going on.
Returned Item, No refund or communications
I returned an item and have received no refund. I have tried to contact GAK several times and have not gotten a response
Web sales Vs in store
In-store - awesome service! Web sales unfortunately the polar opposite.
Damaged good (to be fair likely the courier). Multiple phone calls waiting over 45 mins without answer. Email contact received 1 day later with a stock templated holding message advising of further contact 3-5 working days and to keep all packaging. Nearly two weeks on and no further contact received from gak and cannot get them on the phone.
Overall would I use GAK again? In-store yes but not online as both the logistics company used didn't care about the damage and lack of customer service or any meaningful contact from GAK. Disappointing given how good the in store experience is.
