I've been with Fairwinds since around 1996 and have always had a positive experience with them. Just recently, after years of not having issues, had to call in for something and it was immediately resolved in one call.

To start, we use Fairwinds because we follow Dave Ramsey and use the Everydollar app. Fairwinds gets the job done, but its online interface experience for both desktop and mobile is only average. For reference Idaho Central CU has one of the best interfaces I've experienced. Also, they seem to be technically challenged. Sometimes when you call, there is only silence on the other end. You have to try a few times before the automated system answers.
Our biggest struggle is that my wife's name does not appear on our statements even though she is a joint owner on our accounts.
Honestly this MAKES HER FEEL LIKE A CHILD, or rather, like she lives in the 1950s because she cannot open 529s for her biological kids without me asking Fairwinds to provide proof for her, showing that she owns these accounts. Thanks Fairwinds.
The lack of her name on our statements makes verifying our identity for other organizations very difficult. Over a month ago, Fairwinds said they cannot list two names on their statement but would provide a document showing my wife's name for verification purposes, then they never got back to me.
I just got off the phone with Fairwinds again to begin the process for a second time. IT TAKES THEM 3 DAYS TO EMAIL a letter of account ownership listing both of our names. When I asked what happened to my first request they said there was a glitch... but they'll make sure I get it this time.
Honestly, the only reason I'm not giving only two stars is that every credit union has issues like this. So I guess it's average.
Oh and sometimes the website just wont do anything when you try to log in. No error message, just doesn't do anything when you press "login". I've updated my review to 2 stars. I'd be happy to upgrade my review if they get in touch with me after I send them a message all this when I am able to log in some day.
Update: I've change my review to 4 stars because only a few hours later. Fairwinds emailed a letter of account ownership and call me personally to get thing sorted out. They also assured me that they are actively working on improving the joint member experience, including statement access, with a task force led by the CEO, but no timeline is set for these broader changes.

Fairwinds offers a variety of helpful services including zelle. I have also enjoyed my experience with having our mortgage through the you, the interest rate was much lower than the mortgage lenders and it was not cumbersome going through the underwriting process.

I was skeptical at first dealing with a credit union no where near me or that I could just walk into, but I am sure glad I did! There high yield interest saving accounts are like none other I have had any experience, (way better then the banks) and the customer support is real people that answer the phone and are very knowledgeable and always helpful.
