I have been complaining since 25 November 2025 about my refund for a double payment. Rain sends automated messages, they don’t respond directly from an actual person. It is the worst customer service. There is no management, no sense of urgency and willingness to assist or care for clients frustrations. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I am just so disappointed and angry at how this whole situation is being handled. I have to keep calling, using all my airtime, sending messages, emails. Rain will not interact with clients. I must always follow up. I just need assistance.

I am advising the public in the strongest possible terms to avoid Rain as an Internet Service Provider. Their service delivery has collapsed to the point where even the old dial-up connections of decades past would be a competitive alternative.
Rain’s Rain One package initially offered excellent value for money. However, ever since the launch and growing popularity of their Rain Go devices, there has been a steady and undeniable decline in network performance. As demand increased, Rain clearly failed to increase network capacity, and the customer base is now paying the price.
From approximately 20:00 every night, and especially over weekends, speeds drop so severely that normal browsing becomes impossible. As of the end of November 2025, the situation deteriorated further. The increasingly frequent “Connected Without Internet” message now appears consistently between 20:00 and 04:00, making the service effectively unusable during those hours. This is not a technical fault; this is a capacity issue that Rain refuses to acknowledge or address.
Attempting to report the problem is a separate frustration. Rain’s WhatsApp “support bot” is not intelligent by any stretch of the imagination. It repeatedly suggests rebooting the device and claims to “escalate” the matter, yet nothing changes because escalation is clearly meaningless when the underlying cause is insufficient network capacity. Calling their customer care line is equally pointless. You are patched through to individuals who sound like AI with Americanised accents and who have no understanding of the Rain network in South Africa. No authentic troubleshooting occurs, no feedback is provided, and no resolution is ever achieved.
As someone who relies heavily on stable internet connectivity for professional purposes, Rain’s failure to provide a functional service has become intolerable. It is now clear that Rain is chasing subscriber numbers and profits, with no commitment to building adequate infrastructure or ensuring reliable service delivery. The deterioration is obvious, ongoing, and utterly unacceptable.
I strongly advise prospective customers to avoid signing up with Rain unless they enjoy extended periods of having no internet connectivity, particularly during peak hours. What Rain advertises and what Rain delivers are two entirely different realities.
Rain has become unreliable, unresponsive, and unfit for purpose. I am now forced to seek a more competent and dependable ISP, as Rain has demonstrated no interest in resolving their capacity problems or providing the service that customers are paying for.

We moved and had no rain coverage. I cancelled the contract, returned the unit and did everything to the t. Only to discover that the branch did not cancel my subscription. I contacted them re this but all they were concerned about was their money. I am so disappointed in them. Their after-sales service is pathetic to say the least and their staff needs urgent training with cancellation procedures, time frames etc

Non-existent customer service. Spoke to the chatbot which said it logged a ticket and I havent received anything, and tried that for 2 weeks now with nothing. Feels like a scam as its currently running at <100kb/s.

I have owned my Rain 5G "The Zero" router for over two years. It began severely overheating about two weeks ago and has now completely failed. Despite paying R620 for the month, I have been left without service.
Rain's customer service is shocking and completely unhelpful.
1. 24-Hour Chatbot is Useless: The service is a marketing myth. It failed to resolve the issue and instead directed me to cancel my plan and pay for a new router, an unacceptable solution for faulty equipment.
2. Phone Support is Non-Committal: The agent offered zero commitment, only vague promises of an "escalation to logistics" and an expected call. It was clear the representative did not want to own the problem.
3. Appalling Support: While the WIFI performance was excellent, the back-end customer support process is designed to deflect, not solve. I am now forced to buy data while waiting for a response regarding a device I already paid for.
The cost of this poor customer experience drastically outweighs the enjoyment of the service. I require immediate replacement of the faulty unit and a refund for lost service days.

I was promised I would be refunded and even got references and took video of them taking my modem back

After wasting my time with them for what felt like forever, with the bad internet speed, terrible customer service and the network having no service from time to time, I finally decided to cancel my subscription with them.
I thought it would be easy, login to my account, go to my profile or account settings and simply click a button to cancel, but boy do they unnecessarily make it hard. YOU have to send THEM a REQUEST to cancel your subscription. So I did that, and since I was using a virtual card for them, I cancelled it from my banking app.
Every month, I've been getting SMSs, Emails and WhatsApp messages that I missed a payment and I replied that I shouldn't be getting charged because I cancelled my subscription.
Today I decided to DM them on Twitter, and guess what, they claim they never got a request and that I have an outstanding balance of almost R3,000 that I need to settle. What happened to the request, why do they make it so hard to cancel? You expect me to pay for internet that I haven't been using? Not a chance.

I called Rain in September requesting for a new router cause the one I had was not working. The consultant that was assistanting adviced to upgrade to the RainOne deal. I did not have an issue as long as I was going to get a working router. One the day off delivery I brought the old router to work because I was expecting them to collect it when dropping the new one. That is how rain work. Guess what is was not collected until November. When I checked my bill I was charged for a router that was not working in Oct and Nov. I call them requesting for a refund and I never got it. It was advised that they will credit that money to the next month. Now all of a sudden I owe rain money.

I have been using Rain for 2 months with no issue, but from the 28 November it connects with out internet. I tried reaching out to their WhatsApp chat with so assistance, i want told to pay my december subscription but still it doesn't connects. 😡 poor service

I have been with Rain for a long time and have never had connection issues before. Everything changed towards the end of this year, when the service suddenly collapsed and became completely unusable at my location.
Since then, my connection has been offline most of the time, extremely slow when it does work, and overall impossible to rely on. The service failure is ongoing and severe.
What makes this situation even worse is Rain’s non-existent customer support.
I have tried emailing, calling, and logging multiple support requests via the chat, yet Rain repeatedly:
Closes my tickets with no resolution
Does not call
Does not email
Does not follow up
Makes zero effort to contact me or fix the problem
Support tickets are closed without progress, without apology, and without any attempt to troubleshoot.
Despite this, Rain continues to bill me R625 every month, fully aware that the service does not work.
Because Rain’s network has become unusable, I am forced to buy additional data from other service providers just to stay online. This costs me another R500–R650 every month, meaning I now pay double because Rain cannot deliver even a basic functioning connection.
This is financially draining, unfair, and unacceptable.
I have logged numerous queries with Rain, including (non-exhaustive):
40343708, 40343144, 40281930, 40281742, 40281192, 38888322, 36987896, 36175936.
On 19 November 2025, I issued a formal cancellation request based on Section 54 of the Consumer Protection Act, due to Rain’s failure to provide the service. Rain has ignored this request and continues billing without resolving the issue or arranging equipment collection.
I am now demanding the following:
Immediate cancellation without penalties
Stop all billing and debit orders immediately
Collect your equipment within 3 business days
Provide written confirmation that this account is closed
If Rain continues to ignore me, I will escalate the matter to ICASA, the National Consumer Commission, and any other regulatory platform available.
Consumers should not pay for a service Rain knows it is not delivering — and should not be ignored when asking for help.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Rain WiFi
I signed up for Rain’s WiFi service because they advertised 60 Mbps upload and download. What I actually received was around 1.63 Mbps, which made the internet almost unusable. The network quality was terrible.
The day after receiving the router and testing it, I contacted Rain to collect it and cancel the service. They did not do so. Instead, they continued trying to debit my account for months. Luckily, I removed the funds so the payments bounced, but it has now been five months of asking them to call me or resolve this issue with no response.
This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend Rain to anyone who expects reliable speeds or proper customer support.
Avoid this provider.
