Dear rain Complaints Team,
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent experience with your service, which I find deeply concerning and unacceptable.
I subscribed to your service in March and paid online for installation and initial usage. However, upon receiving and activating the service, I quickly discovered that it was not fit for my needs — specifically, I was unable to upload videos or perform essential work-related tasks.
I contacted your support team shortly thereafter and clearly communicated that the service would not work for me and that I wished to cancel. Despite this, my request was not actioned.
To make matters worse, I have since discovered that attempts have been made to debit my bank account — details which I did not authorise for debit purposes. I made a once-off online payment and at no point provided consent for recurring debits. This is extremely concerning and raises serious questions regarding your billing practices and use of customer financial information.
I have since made further attempts to resolve this, including phone calls and emails. During these interactions, I have been met with what I can only describe as dismissive, repetitive, and at times arrogant responses, with no meaningful effort made to resolve the matter.
I am now being told that:
I cannot cancel my service until I pay a full month’s instalment
I owe for a period during which I had already requested cancellation
My concerns are effectively being ignored
This is unacceptable.
For clarity:
I paid just over R400 in March for usage up until 20 April
My service was cancelled on or around 20 April
I had already requested cancellation prior to this date
I am being charged for a service I explicitly stated I did not want and could not use
Additionally, I have now received communication regarding a price increase, despite only having activated the service in March — further compounding my dissatisfaction.
At this stage, I require the following to be addressed immediately:
Written confirmation that my service has been cancelled in full
Immediate cessation of any and all debit attempts on my account
Reversal of any unauthorised debits (if processed)
Waiving of any outstanding charges being incorrectly applied
A clear explanation as to how my banking details were used for debit purposes without my authorisation
This matter has already caused unnecessary stress and frustration, and I find the lack of urgency and accountability from your team appalling.
Should this not be resolved promptly, I will have no hesitation in escalating this matter further through the appropriate consumer protection and regulatory channels.
I expect a prompt and professional resolution.
This matter is being formally escalated to ICASA and the National Consumer Commission due to unauthorised debits and failure to action cancellation.

I have been having network issues and have asked for assistance from rain for 2 months and I have not had any help. It's a miracle if I can use the internet for 15 straight minutes without buffering. Whenever I complain they say everything looks great on their side, of course it looks great on their side I'm the one paying and not receiving the service I pay for. Additionally they said they will write a ticket, nothing has come of it till this day.The customer service is in the dogs but come billing say there's a reminder to pay even before the date and still get nothing for it.

To the Management of RAIN SA,
I am writing this to formally register my outrage and demand immediate corrective action regarding the abysmal service and unethical business practices I have experienced with your company.
I have never utilized your services. The entire sales process was highly suspicious and filled with red flags. I was told by your sales representative that providing my banking details was a prerequisite for "delivery," which in hindsight, appears to be a deceptive tactic to initiate billing for a service I never authorized or used.
Despite my repeated attempts to return your router, the process has been a shambles. On several occasions, I have waited for your couriers, only to have them claim they were at my address when they were not. I have even offered to deliver the device myself to resolve this, yet I am met with nothing but excuses and "stories" from your support team. I am not interested in your attempts to "fix" the service connection; the answer is a firm no.
Most importantly, it has come to my attention that your unauthorized billing and subsequent "debt" handling is negatively impacting my credit score. This is unacceptable and legally actionable. You are reporting a default on an account that was never validly established and for services never rendered.
I require the following actions to be completed within 48 hours:
1. You must immediately contact all relevant credit bureaus to retract any negative reporting and restore my credit profile to its original state.
2. I demand the immediate termination of any "account" in my name and the complete removal of my personal and banking details from your systems in accordance with data privacy regulations (POPIA).
Provide a formal letter confirming that I owe REIN ISP R0.00 and that the account is closed.
Failure to resolve this immediately will result in me escalating this matter to the ISPA (Internet Service Providers' Association) and the National Consumer Commission, as well as seeking legal counsel regarding the damage done to my credit reputation.
I expect a response confirming these actions have been initiated by the end of business tomorrow. Please contact me on 0836482915.

Consistently losing connection, my router shows 5G(blue), but rain can't sort it either, their chat bot just wants to reboot(like its the only option i have), but even after rebooted, i am still not connected, i am getting less than 1mbps(at most) for a 30mbps line. This is really frustrating, giving how rain has promised me a product which is not living up to its name. I am not happy with the service. Then another issue is the rain support team, they always say they'll call you, then never do. But just be late with a payment by 2hours, they'll call you very quickly. I am siding with all the other negative reviews, i tried giving you guys a chance, but at this point, i am lost, we don't have the financials to get another isp, or i would have canceled by now, this last week was just frustrating, can't even send a WhatsApp 90% of the time and i can guarantee they'll reply with some generic response like, please dm us on socials or whatever.

I had called the rain service provider and we both went over where I lived and I was told multiple times that "yes there is coverage in your area" fast forward two weeks later and I finally receive the router, I plug it in and try connecting, it doesn't have a connection. I call the rain support team and was told on 3 different calls that for some reason I have no coverage in my area and this have to " look for other options" overall the router is a good product the "support" isn't very supportive and now I actually regret trying to leave herotel for such a useless product. If I could give half a start , I definitely would in a heartbeat , don't use rain just use afrihost or any cheaper and more well structured provider

Rain employees and departments within Rain is misaligned, I am not even a client of Rain for 2 weeks and they can even get a device delivery right, I had a simple request for a 3rd party person to receive my order however it took a whole week mind you the 1st week that I am a new cleint with them to resolve the query and yet I still do not have my device so I hope this review gets yo either a executive or a director of Rain that is more than willing to apologize for tgeir bad service.

I have had the rain wifi for years now.And its BEEN absolutely terrible it always shuts down or i can even WhatsApp my family because of it being so slow. I cant afford to buy a better wifi. But rain you really need to work on your wifi it is absolutely horrible i wouldn't recommend rain wifi to anyone.

Terrible internet Speed. Rain focuses on gimmick marketing and useless router features, choosing to even show you the weather forcast on their router display. None of this is needed when your internet stability is terrible and your general speed sucks.
If it is an overcast day or even worse a storm..Rain does not work. Terrible provider and their support is also Bad. I have Emailed their support team and requested support through their support feature on the router...but nothing..just silcence.. I am in an area that does not have a fibre connection at the moment..if you are the same you are better off going with Telkom Mobile data and just hot spotting. The connection is better and would work out to still be cheaper.

I genuinely tried to give Rain a chance, but this has been one of the most frustrating service experiences I’ve dealt with.
I was paying for an up to 60 Mbps line, yet my speeds dropped to under 2 Mbps. At that point, the service was barely usable. Despite raising the issue and being told I would receive a callback, nothing happened. Not the same day, not the next day, not even over a week later.
Instead, I spent more time speaking to bots than getting actual assistance. Lots of apologies, lots of scripted responses, and lots of “please reboot your router,” but no real solution.
Eventually, I took matters into my own hands and moved to another provider.
Atomic Access installed today, and I am now getting 108 Mbps download, 94.3 Mbps upload, and 2 ms latency. So the issue was finally resolved, just not by Rain.
What surprised me most is that when I asked to cancel, the process moved faster than the support ever did. No meaningful attempt to retain me, no urgency, and no ownership of the poor experience. Just straight to cancellation.
If you are charging customers for a 60 Mbps service but delivering under 2 Mbps, then disappearing when support is needed most, something is seriously wrong.
RIP Rain. Gone from my home, but probably still somewhere in the escalation queue.

I have never experienced this level of poor service ever. The agents working there have no idea what actual customer service looks like. I called in 3 days ago, as a first time client and ordered a router and paid the pro rata. Then the nightmare began.
I got a WhatsApp message from a courier saying he is delivering the router. He never pitched, did not respond to my messages. When I contacted the courier company, they were unable to verify if he works for them. Contacted Rain and got the runaround. Nobody got back to me regarding the fact that my personal details were given out to an unverified 3rd party. Managers don't call back. Saga continues..... even now that I've cancelled the order, the same unverified courier is trying to deliver the router.
Rain WiFi might have an excellent product but their customer service is the poorest I have ever received.

This is my first tim using Rain, i bought the new Rain loop that is advertised everywhere.
Booked for the device to be delivered last week, i only got it today.
Plugged it in and it kept restarting.
Phoned customer care, incompetent person answered the phone.
Let me elaborate, I am told to change settings on the device, it keeps restarting I have never even been on the device.
Needless to say I had horrible service from the start.
Firstly poor planning from the shipping company to fail to comply with the scheduled delivery date. Do not give an option to book when you want it delivered if you cannot offer that service.
Next point is the fact that I am given a faulty device, I have never even used the device and received it in a non working condition.
Last point I phone the number provided to speak to an agent who cannot even listen to what is wrong as their line is so bad it keeps giving me white noise every few seconds. This is very poor for an internet provider not to have reliable internet to talk to someone who is upset.
Does not listen to my complaints, not sure if they just don't have the answers or do not understand english.
To top it all off i ask to speak to a manager, the response “ I’m sorry, we do not have a manager scheduled at this time…”
Not sure if you are understaffed or just not managed correctly.
This is horrible, worst experience I have ever had dealing with any company.
Just as a side note, I never complain.
For me to be willing to complain you should know I even see it as worth my time to waste to complain only to hope someone else reads this before being met with incompetence.
