When Rain works, it is genuinely excellent — fast, reliable, and great value. But when it doesn’t work, the experience becomes deeply frustrating.
For the past week I have had intermittent connectivity that cuts out for up to 12 hours a day. I have phoned the Rain call centre repeatedly, only to be met with agents who are clearly based outside South Africa and working from a script. With the greatest respect to those individuals, they have no visibility into what is actually happening on the network in this country — and it shows.
Being told that the escalation or advanced technical team will only respond within 24 to 48 hours, while you are sitting without internet for half the day, is not acceptable. The disconnect between what a local South African network engineer could tell you in five minutes and what an offshore call centre agent can offer is enormous — and that gap is where Rain’s customer service completely falls apart.
I am a customer who wants to stay with Rain. But I need to hear from an actual Rain engineering team based in South Africa who can tell me what is wrong, when it will be fixed, and what is being done about it. Until that happens, I cannot in good conscience recommend this service to anyone who depends on connectivity for work or daily life.

There is no cancel button. Even if u mannage to cancel they just charge u still. They are a total scam. Beware

Don't bother, go to vumatel, rain isn't an internet company, it's a scam, they sell you a quality router, with a service on it you barely see operational, downloads may show say 100 Mbps, uploads, those tend to be 34 kbps, rain is known to be south Africa's biggest failure, try calling their support team, it speaks for itself, you will never reach any one, not sure if there was a change of ownership in the last few years or so, but yeah. Best to ask them to order a service for you and then immediately cancel so you can also feel the joy of not supporting a company like this, they won't call you if you log a support ticket nor try retain their customer base.

Disappointing service from constant buffering to the mission of canceling with Leila the robot who couldn't get past her standard lines and then to finally cancel and they still debit your account because it is impossible to remove your card from the app. There are more transparent and sincere providers out there...try those

Rain's service this past week has been nothing short of disgraceful and shameful. After a week of no internet, I'm quite frankly at my wits end, and regret ever considering them as an internet provider. 15 calls I've made to them directly, and it's always the same story. Escalation without any feedback. "Wait 24 hrs",since last Tuesday already. I do most of my work at home, and having to find alternatives to stay connected,whilst having paid for services is quite appalling. To say I am sadly unhappy with Rain,is an understatement. They have dissapontited me to no end

My husband and I have had internet connectivity issues at our home for the past week. We have called the 081 610 1000 number about 10 times this week and it goes straight to their international call centre, where they tried all their trouble shooting hacks but nothing worked. They claimed to have escalated the matter for the past couple of days but there has been no feedback.
I posted a review on HelloPetere and a South African Lady called me. She tried her troubleshooting and the internet issues were better for about 2 hours.
Now we’re back to square one with no connectivity. And still the people from the initial escalation have not contacted us. The customer service at Rain is horrible. The mere fact that my husband and I had to go an alternative route (posting a review) to get a bit of help is atrocious.
Someone needs to urgently contact us to fix this matter or we are cancelling our subscription.

In the app they say they accept ID or Passport when they have to deliver equipment and all. But CCD Couriers say they don't accept Passport. It has to be ID. This is really the worst Company ever. How can a large company like rain cooperate with such Courier companies that are unreliable as hell. And Rain doesn't give you any normal customer support. Thats why we cancelled it all. Rain and CCD couriers are very incompetent. I would not recommend this provider to anyone. Think twice before you decide.

We started experiencing signal issues in December 2025
This problem has continued into May 2026
The support provided is to reposition the router and reboot or they do a system reboot on their side
When you saying R650.00 a month regardless of the service they do or do not provide, it dale you wonder what they are doing to solve their issues
As a result we have started looking into getting a fixed fibre line, which offers the same 30/30 package for R200.00 less per month
What irritates me the most is
They send you a text message to let you know that they have issues with connectivity, wet food not give you anything back
I say this because
You pay for a service and they in return tell you what you already know, yet when you do not pay they cut your service, a very one sided way of doing business
As far as the spinal goes, they told us our area had their 5G coverage and that we are just 600m from one of their towers
A signal connection search shows we get connected to places 300 km away and only after a system reboot do we get onto the closest tower, just to be bounced around and hour later
Their "support" then tells me that the 5G signal in our area does not work correctly due to towers maintenance or related issues OR there is NO 5G support in our area, yet they, in the shop doing their own search said "you have 5G rain coverage"
Which just leads me to believe that all they want is the sale, the after sales service is optional and you just need to live with what they allow you to have

The last week of the month is the worst time, 5G signal strength is below 1mb , all tech support they reboot signal works for the day and the next day same issues
Have noticed in the last month, the 101 router rebooting at,randomly,times during a movie or during a series, leading of to believe they know they have a problem
If you know that you have a problem GIVE YOUR PAYING CUSTOMER SOMETHING BACK IN RETURN
So how short, they will sell you the world and then treat you like you are a stupid irritating customer rantings on about a problem they are well aware
But hey just reboot your router, switch it off for 5 minutes than back on, system reboot on their side and or reposition your router closer to a window
Just to get the same BS again
Pay for one thing and you just have to live with what ever they give you

Avoid Rain - The "Month-to-Month” Trap is a LieRain’s biggest selling point is a complete scam.
They advertise a "month-to-month" contract with no strings attached, but trying to actually leave is like being held hostage.
I followed their supposed cancellation process—which they hide deep in the app or website—only to find that "canceling" means absolutely nothing to them.
Despite multiple requests and confirmations, they continue to debit my account every single month.
When you try to contact support, it’s a nightmare.
The customer service lines are either busy for hours, or you’re stuck talking to bots that give you generic reference numbers and zero actual help.
Worst of all, they keep billing you even after the service is disconnected.

I placed an order using my mom's details with her account at rain and i canceled because she lost her ID, so they said they'll refund the R395 , i then created an account under my name but her banking details because she's the one that will be paying, i placed the order on the 1st of may and they deducted R200- R300, and it got canceled, i called and asked about it they said they don't know what happened and they will refund me but they didn't, i placed another order on the 2nd of May and payed R59 and everything was going just fine and they called saying they deliver today but they didn't so i decided to check on the website and it got canceled again, i called them again and they said need to place a new order and pay R1 so they can fix it, they've been transferring me to different departments but there's no way forward and no answers, no refund, no package, why is this happening to me?

It’s quite sad, I’ve used Rain since 2019 as a mobile sim then upgraded to a home Device. The best decision was to have my card expire and never added any afterwards. They cut my connection on the 15 March 2026 while owing R623, today they said I’m owing R1985 how did we move to that number? knowing very well I’m not in contract, which is why you do cut my connection for non payment! which you did on the 15! Who are we charging now with no service. Your problem is also your AI robot that is non competent.

Rain is the best example of corporate criminal acts against the individual. They keep stealing money from your account after cancellation had been confirmed more than once! My advice? STAY AWAY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE! -x-

I'm been with Rain for a while now. On the 28th of April 2026 I contacted Rain canceling my subscription. I was told everything is in order and that my subscription was canceled. But this morning I woke up to a debit order of R620 from them. I immediately contacted them and the agent is not making sense at all. Telling me the R620 was for April but I had paid in April.
