Worse than 1 star!
I only gave it 1 star because I can't give zero. Basically the same story as everyone else. After ordering my stuff still had not been shipped after 2 weeks so I reached out. They told me some of the stuff I ordered wasn't in stock and had no idea when it would be in stock and shipped. I requested a refund and they said they would get it started. After a month of waiting and sending several more messages I have not had any further response from them. I reached out to them again to possibly get a credit since clearly they don't give refunds but I still have not heard anything in over a week. Never thought I'd get ghosted by a company. Truely the worst online business I've ever dealt with.

hey, everyone i really want to buy off heros outdoor but hearing all these stuff does any of it actually come because i be ordering machetes and are they the same in the photos do they actual arrive or everyone just want a refund

I ordered an item from Hero Outdoors in December of 2024 about a week before Christmas. Within an hour I decided against the purchase and emailed them to cancel it. They would not do it, suggesting the only option was to try to return it. Kind of cr33py especially just prior to Christmas.
I have ordered from them about six times but will not be back. I do not think they are truthful about what they have in inventory either.
Hero is zero, I'd give no stars
I'd give no stars, but that's not an option unfortunately. My very first experience with Hero will be my very last one. On February 4th 2025 I ordered online a Knife that was shown as in stock with two listing s showing two different prices, I ordered the lower one like any rationale person would do. Read that sales processing could take between 1 and 19 days, I was ok with it, but not thrilled. Got an order confirmation number. I thought if they don't return/refund right away it was good to go. Bought upgraded scales after a week, order was still in process. Yesterday was day 20, still processing, no other contact from Hero. I called. Got told it was discontinued, and the customer service guy would look into it then call me right back. Today I called back, got told basically oops, sorry which really pissed me off. This was a gift, another site showed it also a similar price, if they had contacted me sooner I could have gone there. They offered to purchase the scales if I purchased another knife from them if I came to the store(over 4yrs drive). They have supposedly refunded the cost of the knife but we'll see. Hero is Zero
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. Buyer beware. Ordered several items early November for Christmas. Confusing and unreliable updates. Only actual communication was if I called. No call backs when promised someone checking and would get back to me. Now waiting refund for most of the order.
Garbage shame
I would put 0 if I could, I send back broken knife and axe, because their stuff is garbage...anyways, been months and didn't reimbursed me, they literally steel my money.

If only there is a zero star, they would have gotten it. Accept payments for items that are not in stock, no follow ups with customer at all. Have to ask PayPal to get money back

They’re are way too many amazing websites to order from! Unless you are looking for complicated problems, and to lose your time and money! I was expecting new equipments, as on every other websites! But received used! Waste of time!

1 star rating speaks for itself! Got 2 guns from them online, both arrived in non working order, broken parts, or missing parts. Sold me a agm mp40 with half the things shown on the box. Do not purchase from this place, I didn't learn the first time and I should have. Do not recommend.

Don't even think about placing an order...absolutely everything you read is true...mostly extremely bad reviews...I would never had placed an order if I had read these first...don't try and call them there is no one there...told you your refund was being processed...forget that..it is a lie ...they will tell you there are others ahead of you awaiting refunds...you will have to wait your turn...it is hard to believe that this company continues to stay in some sort of business...buyer beware...
Scam is not a hyperbole
Sometimes we say companies are scamming people as a means of exaggeration in order to express our displeasure at their conduct. Hero Outdoors goes above and beyond in their committment to being a -real- scam website. Not one of those fake ones.
I purchased three knives from their website. Paid $100 (not including insurance) for shipping overseas despite wondering why it costs that much to ship items that collectively weigh less than half a bag of sugar. All three items were listed as 'in stock' and 'ready to ship in 3-19 days'.
A few days later I received a message saying 'These knives are discontinued and we don't have them. Which other knives would you like to buy?' You'll notice two things absent from this message - 1) An apology and 2) An offer of a refund. It did however contain the presumption that any customer that places an order can just have the items they committed to buying swapsied with something else, which is a unique approach to commerce I've not seen before now.
I wrote that those 3 items were the only ones I was interested in, and if they weren't in stock I'd like a refund.
Instead of getting a refund I received a message helpfully informing me that they have a 10% store credit bonus I can use to buy something else. At this point it felt as if I was being pressured into letting them keep my money (which was several hundred dollars). This is commonly known as a 'bait and switch' scam. I had to ask for a refund a second time.
Almost a week later the refund was processed. I noticed it was only partial and missing a chunk of it. I like giving people the benefit of the doubt so I asked them where the rest of it was. They helpfully replied "We keep 4% of any refunds." but did kindly tell me to "Have a great day!" afterwards, so you know, that's okay
I didn't think it was fair for them to keep a percentage of my money after their website allowed me to buy items that they said were in stock and ready to ship. Bear in mind, I purchased 3 separate items and all 3 were not stocked by them. 1 or maybe 2 would be understandable to say was just an easy mistake to make, but 3? If 3/3 items are not in stock, how much of the rest of their website is fabricated?
I messaged back again and said it wasn't fair to keep my money when it wasn't my fault the transaction was refunded. I didn't change my mind and ask them to reverse it - I committed to a contract which they reneged on by, you know, lying about the definition of 'in stock and ready to ship'. I do understand, I regularly take money from people for items I don't have. Except wait I don't because that's fraud. They very helpfully ignored me.
I'm like 80% sure consumer law says that if a customer pays for something that is not delivered they are entitled to a full refund (except in situations where the customer cancels the transaction). No one has told Hero Outdoors this. I should probably send a card
I opened a case on paypal and they sided with me in 0.5 seconds, because apparently 'I take 4% because I want to' does not trump a tiny thing called consumer rights
In other news, I've gotten a really good idea for a business. I'm going to list 9000 items for sale that I don't have and when people buy them, I will only refund 96% of their money. Imagine the funds I could make! I'm an absolute genius
The sad thing is I have used their website in the past and the transactions went fine. This was many years ago, however. I stupidly assumed that their conduct was still the same as it used to be. I should have checked the reviews first.
terrible company
received used goods listed as brand new. I emailed them to return the items and they asked for pictures so I sent them pictures and then they ghosted me, no reply in over a month. I have had similar problems with them in the past. worst customer service ever. If you read their online return policy it says online orders are not returnable, that in itself is a huge red flag. save yourself the headache and the money and just look elsewhere. This company should just be shut down.

warning!!! This is a scam. They do not have the products they advertise and collect your money regardless. I'm sure eventually a long prison sentence will be forthcoming as eventually they will steal from the wrong person
Beware Heros
Heros offers sporting goods on line. Large stock and fair prices. When purchase is made online Heros e mails back that the item is no longer in stock and not available . Heros processes the invoice and does not refund back the amount billed. Staff encourages customer to select an alternate item. This too is reported as unavailable and invoice is processed with no refund.

They are LIARS and SCAM ARTISTS and use drop shipping from a warehouse in the USA that means Border Services is involved causing insane shipping delays to you. this is NOT made clear up front rather they PRETEND they have your items "on hand" But they don't care if you have to wait forever cause they already have your money.

I have placed and received 12 orders since 2020. If something was not in stock it was either replaced with something of equal value or refunded.
Sometimes orders took a while to be filled but I have always been satisfied with my items , other then a few inexpensive ones that were inconsequential and were my own issue.

Terrible shipping & customer service…
Terrible shipping & customer service experience. Ordered airsoft parts, listed as IN STOCK, after my order sat is "awaiting fulfillment" for 2 weeks, I asked about it and turns out parts of the order were backordered.
They answered promptly and offered an additional 10% store credit, so I thought I'd give them another chance and place another order for similar parts.
Again, my order sits as "awaiting fulfillment" for two weeks, so I decide I've had enough and ask for it to be cancelled. Turns out Hero is "unable to cancel an order after it is placed" (when that was exactly what was done on my first order) and I'm sent a link to their shipping & return policy.
Please don't make the same mistake I did and give Hero Outdoors the benefit of the doubt. They are dishonest, don't actually stock the products they advertise, and hide behind a draconian refund policy so they can take your money and give nothing in return.
Take your business elsewhere, there are so many other good online airsoft shops in Canada whose goals go beyond bilking the community.
